@glendahowes5905 I worked on that play with rex, harrison al over, I was rex, harrison's Assistant for several years Colbert would always show up to the theater every night, like she just stepped off a magazine cover. She was no deava at that time, she was in her 80s, she was very kind and pleasant. She wasn't the funny, caught it from the films. Oh I really didn't have that much to do with her. I still have a check. She gave him for some So i'm a little kindness I did her

Great pictures in your collection. Claudette Colbert was a beauty and talented actress. I have seen many of her movies and enjoyed them all. My favorites were Imitation Of Life 1934, It Happened One Night 1934, Smiling Lieutenant 1933, Since You Went Away 1943, and Torch Singer 1933. Loved the warmth and loveliness she projected in her films.

I had seen Claudette in a couple of movies. I got a sense of her intelligence and strength. I got the feeling she might be one of those people (like Julie Andrews) who go through their whole lives with the same hairdo. I'm glad to see l was wrong. She lived a good life, that suited her. She worked hard and reaped the rewards of those efforts. She died with dignity. That's all any of us can hope for.

I've noticed that everyone seems to have taken Scotty Bowers' salacious book as fact. According to Bowers, everyone in Hollywood, male and female, was secretly gay. It does seem to prove the adage that whomever has the last word has the better chance of being believed regardless of the truth or facts.

Ahhhh! The allure of Claudette Colbert. She surely has to be the most 'French looking' leading Hollywood lady, ever. Strange that isn't it, how nationality can define your looks. Once again, I haven't seen many of her films but I have watched 'the classics', her crackle and sparkle with Gable being of particular note. I am not sure how she would have been as a person but if she was so fastidious and fussy about the 'dark side of the moon' not being shown, then I can only assume she would have been, with the greatest of respect, a bit of a piece of work and lived up to her renowned 'D' word reputation. I must go back and rewatch 'It Happened One Night' at some point but as it is, now that I have discovered this delightful YT channel, I am piling up on things to revisit or discover. I have 'The Passion of Joan of Arc' lined up for another run this weekend. I just love that film for its mesmerising cinematography, especially. Anyway, I digress. Claudette's image will never fade, as long as people are attracted to the mystique of Hollywood. Her achievements are remarkable and she stands tall among the luminaries of her time. Oui, oui, oui, bien sur! Thanks for your fascinating take on her achievements, which I listened to a couple of nights ago. Keep up the good work. We're waiting for your 'Garbo', when you're ready✨

If I had a chance to be in a movie? I'd be like, "What do you want me to do? How can I do a good job?" But Claudette was telling them to redesign entire sets, not caring how much it cost them -- just so the left side of her face wouldn't show! And she was a newcomer in the industry! No disrespect meant to Claudette, but what is it about some people that they can make the most outrageous demands and people go, "Ok! Sure. Whatever you want!" I probably would have gotten instant smackdown. 😄

Very well researched, though the Images of Colbert didnt always match up with the narrative. Claudette truly is one one greats. I have many Original portraits of her. Ive always thought she would been interesting as Margo Channing in All about Eve but not sure she has the "bite" that Bette Davis brought the part. Has anyone ever noticed to resemblance (with those Bangs) and acting of Colbert and Anne Baxter..? It Happened One Night and Imitation of Life are my all - time favourites, not all of her vehicles have transcended time and remain only watchable because of the lady's style and elegance.

I do believe she was a Closet Gay woman...but was determined to keep her reputation and career Scandal Proof. There were rumours Claudette had a brief affair with Joan Crawford-----a most incredible liaison because they are so different...but I dont doubt they got under the sheets. Broadway legend Helen Hayes was among her closest friends.

@darlynegardner2158 Phrases are "coined." Do you understand what that means??? The term -- the words "Sexual Harassment" DID NOT EXIST during the 1920s. The ACTION of sexual harassment has existed SINCE CAVE DWELLING DAYS - living by the river in Africa - since men & women were defined as sexes; BUT THE TERM?? NO! Use your brain.

Just need to correct something it is not true that in France you had to name your children from the saint of your birthday. It is an African custom ! But it is true that when you want to baptise your children in the catholic Church you need to choose a name from the Bible or from a saint who will be their Saint Patron and in the Hope that they will look after them, or give them some of their qualities.

You gotta' keep things accurate. Can not state she encountered "Sexual Harassment" because the term hadn't been coined. You can refer to the action but, not label it as such & must ID it according to the language of the then day : At Cornell University, instructor Lin Farley discovered that women in a discussion group repeatedly described being fired or quitting a job because they were harassed and intimidated by men. She and colleagues used the term "sexual harassment" to describe the problem and generate interest in a "Speak Out" in May 1975.

You are so full of yourself. Your comment is absolutely idiotic. People had diseases long before they had a name and it doesn’t mean they didn’t exist. The same principal applies here. Your efforts to impress people with your academic knowledge are undermined by your lack of common sense.

These are interesting and relaxing to watch, but why the really strange and incorrect pronounciations on certain words in each of these videos. Very everyday words like 'debut'. Mmm.

You can slow the speed of her speaking in your settings for the video on the upper right. Useful for southerners. 😊

I love your videos but please can you come away from the mic when you talk.... The clacking of your saliva is so off-putting. 😁
