Ahhhh! The allure of Claudette Colbert. She surely has to be the most 'French looking' leading Hollywood lady, ever. Strange that isn't it, how nationality can define your looks. Once again, I haven't seen many of her films but I have watched 'the classics', her crackle and sparkle with Gable being of particular note. I am not sure how she would have been as a person but if she was so fastidious and fussy about the 'dark side of the moon' not being shown, then I can only assume she would have been, with the greatest of respect, a bit of a piece of work and lived up to her renowned 'D' word reputation. I must go back and rewatch 'It Happened One Night' at some point but as it is, now that I have discovered this delightful YT channel, I am piling up on things to revisit or discover. I have 'The Passion of Joan of Arc' lined up for another run this weekend. I just love that film for its mesmerising cinematography, especially. Anyway, I digress. Claudette's image will never fade, as long as people are attracted to the mystique of Hollywood. Her achievements are remarkable and she stands tall among the luminaries of her time. Oui, oui, oui, bien sur! Thanks for your fascinating take on her achievements, which I listened to a couple of nights ago. Keep up the good work. We're waiting for your 'Garbo', when you're ready✨

If I had a chance to be in a movie? I'd be like, "What do you want me to do? How can I do a good job?" But Claudette was telling them to redesign entire sets, not caring how much it cost them -- just so the left side of her face wouldn't show! And she was a newcomer in the industry! No disrespect meant to Claudette, but what is it about some people that they can make the most outrageous demands and people go, "Ok! Sure. Whatever you want!" I probably would have gotten instant smackdown. 😄

Very well researched, though the Images of Colbert didnt always match up with the narrative. Claudette truly is one one greats. I have many Original portraits of her. Ive always thought she would been interesting as Margo Channing in All about Eve but not sure she has the "bite" that Bette Davis brought the part. Has anyone ever noticed to resemblance (with those Bangs) and acting of Colbert and Anne Baxter..? It Happened One Night and Imitation of Life are my all - time favourites, not all of her vehicles have transcended time and remain only watchable because of the lady's style and elegance.

I do believe she was a Closet Gay woman...but was determined to keep her reputation and career Scandal Proof. You gotta' keep things accurate. Can not state she encountered "Sexual Harassment" because the term hadn't been coined. You can refer to the action but, not label it as such & must ID it according to the language of the then day : At Cornell University, instructor Lin Farley discovered that women in a discussion group repeatedly described being fired or quitting a job because they were harassed and intimidated by men. She and colleagues used the term "sexual harassment" to describe the problem and generate interest in a "Speak Out" in May 1975.
