The quality of everything in these shows was stunning. They came along before I was here but I was addicted to these shows. They did not mess around.

The Hollywood Palace. Such a fun show. Love Jimmy Durante! On tv, movies, and radio. Used to sneak out of bed to watch his show. Love George Carlin, and The Turtles. By the way: the Dutch Master who was singing bass, 2nd from right front, was Thurl Ravenscroft, the singing voice of the Grinch, and the voice of Tony the Tiger. He's GRRREAT! RIP, darling Jimmy, and George, and Thurl, and thanx so very much, dear gentle men, for the magic, music, and memories.

Tobacco ads were all over the place on television back then. Didn't have anything to do with my nicotine habit which I picked up in the army back when they had free mini-packs of cigarettes in the C-rations. I wish they'd ban all the political ads and bring back the tobacco ads. What sort of an idiot would vote for or against somebody based on a two minute television ad?

Mrs. Miller later to be in Merv Griffin,s audience every show, was one of a kind and someone like Jimmy Durante was just the person to make her even a bigger standout.check out her singing on the youtube video singing Lets Hang On on Malibu U,the color version not the b/w one.

The Mrs. Miller (Lillian) who attended Merv Griffin's shows wasn't the same Mrs. Miller who sang. Her name was Elva Miller. By the way, Walt Disney died five days after this episode of "The Hollywood Palace" aired. I remember it like it was yesterday!

MRS. MILLER AT 29:14 According to IMDB, this episode of The Hollywood Palace aired December 10, 1966; Season 4, Episode 12

That's the same air date and episode number that I've already noted in the video title and description, so I'm not clear why you're noting it again here. But thanks for the heads up about the Mrs. Miller appearance! :)

@@hollywoodpalace3308 I think it is confusing to a lot of people when your videos are titled "Hollywood Palace 4-12," and not "Hollywood Palace 12-10-66."

I love this show overall, but now, knowing the abuse they heaped on these poor elephants to "train" them, I had to fast-forward through that part. And I'm sure they never "forgot" that torture--which is why they "performed" so well.

Paul I dont know about a joke on Mrs.Miller but she cashed in big time .She was managed by Mort Jacobs at William Morris Agency a big time agenr who even got her paid for being in Merv Griffins audience or so it looked like as it was all staged. Mrs.Miller was so in demand the short lived music show out of UCLA hosted by Rick Nelson on the Summer got more requests to have her than they did for The Doors.. Check out the Golden Throats cd if you can get them with Mrs.Miller. Its a time gone by that will never happen again.I wish I had been born then.

Its was back when people had social integrity and were confident in their own social standing, unafraid of what others said or thought. Women were confident in their womanhood and men confident in their manhood. The sick social beggars of today are sad in comparison.
