I can make a box office hit in my sleep. Try this on for size: In a dystopian hellscape, possessed subway trains have hunted humanity to near extinction, behaving not unlike the monsters from Tremors. However, a top secret R&D satellite crashes to Earth, and from the smoldering crater arises Harry Tube Man, a cybernetic ninja built as humanity's last ditch effort to battle the possessed trains. He is approached by survivors. They beg him to do something about the underground railroad menace. Unfortunately, Harry Tube Man only speaks Japanese, but he understands anyway, and speaking his gibberish, vows to save them. Suddenly, the trains erupt from the ground, and swallow him whole. The survivors shit themselves, but then, a massive energy build up swells within the train, and it explodes as a massive laser shoots out of Tube Man's mouth. Confused, he says, subtitled, of course, "HOW DID I DO THAT-ARUuuu!!!" Realizing they're in for a fight, the other trains merge to form a giant Gundam-like train, with a flaming demon skull head. It's all like, "We will KEEEEL you all!!!" and then it teleports behind Tube Man, and crushes him. The mechanical remains of Tube Man arise, looking at the bloody human pulp that was all that remained of his humanity, and he rages, "YOU HAVE DESTROYED MY HUMANITY!!! YOU HAVE NO HONOR, RAILROAD BEAST!!!" The survivors gasp, and one says, "You can speak English?!" Tube Man replies, "IT IS NO MATTER!!! NO LANGUAGE CAN EXPRESS MY RAGE!!!" He then attacks the train beast, but is immediately parried and then punched across the ground, leaving an impact crater. An old survivor runs over, and places two flashing red lights on him. The train beast screams, "AHHHH!!! THE FLASHING RED LIGHTS!!!" The old survivor helps Tube Man to his feet, and tells him the train will be stunned for a while, and they must all hurry to their hiding place. Harry Tube Man, badly damaged, reluctantly agrees a tactical retreat is in order. Later at the hideout, Harry is filled in by a pretty, young woman, on the events since his trip to orbit. She tries to ask about his past, but Harry asks what it matters; his human parts have been destroyed. Since I'm kinda lazy, I'll just briefly say the old timer is the guy who started the whole mess, and even created Harry Tube Man's cybernetic systems. He devises a plan to repair him. Harry is outraged, and leaves. The girl goes after him, but ends up taken prisoner by the trains to draw out Harry. Harry feels his honor demands he save her, so he goes back to the old man, and agrees to be repaired. A young, headstrong lad, assistant to the old man, designs these badass plasma cutter arm blades, and befriends Harry in the process. Together, they head out to meet the trains in battle. The girl is put inside the belly of the train beast, making it harder for Harry to attack without harming her in the process. The fight is intense, but Harry prevails. The train beast falls, and Harry says, "End of the line, metal demon!" As he cuts the belly of the train beast open, a hand reaches out. He pulls the girl to safety, and she's all, "You haven't lost your humanity. If you had, you wouldn't have come after me!" They embrace, and credits roll. At the end of the credits, the sun is seen rising over the horizon... and a train horn is heard in the distance. I call this movie, "Underground Choo-Choo." It's lazy, nonsensical crap, but it's better than anything Hollywood is releasing these days.

The biggest red flag about Joker 2 is the fact that it is a musical. Not because musicals are bad, or that Lady Gaga is bad. Its because thats so big and bizzare genre change, that immediately you know that people there had no idea what they are doing. It's as if someone decided to do a John Wick sequel that is a found footage documentary, or a sequel to interstellar that decided to be a slasher horror with a pinch of slapstick comedy. You dont do that! You keep close to the setting already taken adn established. Otherwise you not only play a game of chance on "will the movie be succesfull with target audience", you piss off the already established audience and basically ASK for bad reviews.

I’m a retired AF veteran (AD when 9/11 happened), gun enthusiast, and just like funny shit. I appreciate the “veteran style” dark humor that everyone on here brings to the table. I’m not the most tech savvy in my age group, and yet possess the basic skill sets necessary to comprehend and utilize twitter/X and the like, so I feel like there are a lot of us out there that are engaged and right there with you on the subject of what’s happening in media in all its forms. In particular, I couldn’t agree more that political ads across the board are extremely out of touch with a majority of their target audience. Anyway, I love everything you’re doing and hope you keep it up in the face of the resistance you’ve encountered from KZbin, etc…

I will go to my grave saying that Iron Man's death in Endgame was incredible, BUT that Ironheart should've been Stark's daughter. She should've used her father's heart to power her suit, hence the name IronHEART. If Stark's daughter had been the one to carry on Iron Man's legacy, and if they'd gotten a charismatic enough actor, NOBODY would've had a problem with Ironheart being one of the faces of the MCU, especially since her creating an AI with her father's voice to keep her company and give her advice would've made perfect sense. If keeping Riri Williams as Ironheart was the goal however, then her being college roommates and best friends with Tony Starks' daughter should've been a must. Perhaps she got shot in Chicago, and hearing about her injury, Tony Stark or Pepper gifts one of his "hearts" to her, which is how she becomes best friends with his daughter, and the two grow up together. She's able to become Ironheart because she has Stark's "heart", which makes his daughter a little jealous but acts as her Oracle of sorts. Not as heartfelt, but it could've still worked instead of her simply stealing her suit from Stark and being SMARTER than Stark at the end of his life.

@@generalgarchomp333 She's the ONE character where her being smarter than her father would make sense. She'd have access to EVERYTHING her father built, researched, theorized, and such. She'd also be the daughter of Tony Stark, which means she'd probably be pretty smart on her own, but if she dived into her father's work to feel closer to him, and wanted to make him proud of her, and live up to his legacy, her working her butt off to be as smart if not smarter would make for a great story if she was headstrong and lacked the experience that Tony Stark did when he first became Iron Man. There's an incredible story there just WAITING to be told.
@generalilbis3 ай бұрын
I'm totally down for the idea of Morgan Stark taking up the Iron Man legacy... but the character was 4 years old as of the finale of Endgame. Making her at least a teenager by the time of Avengers 5 would mean retconning Tony & Pepper's relationship to have her born around the time of IM1...certainly an option for the post Secret Wars version of the MCU but not the current version.

Watchmen from 2009 is nearly a 1 for 1 translation of the graphic novel to the movie. The only major differences were changed for time sake, even then those were side stories that were removed. The ending of the movie is slightly different from the graphic novel because of the side stories being taken out BUT the overall point of the storyline wasn't changed because of it. To this day Watchmen is the best movie adaptation I've ever seen.

Agreed, and removing the fake-space-squids and pinning it on Doctor Manhattan actually made _more_ sense.
@snowmanzach23113 ай бұрын
@@rogerborg I agree completely. That ending makes he becomes this kinda "I'll be the person everyone hates so they have a common enemy to bring them together." Which if you watch it a second time with that in mind it makes the detachment from humanity into a thing where you just don't understand his motives instead of him being cold. It's a wonderful twist which improves the story in my opinion.

Another good adaptation is Stephen King's The Mist. The movie adds a different and FAR more depressing ending that King himself said was a better ending than to his novel.
@snowmanzach23113 ай бұрын
@@lordpumpkinhead265 The movie ending is better for a movie, the book ending is better for the book. The book ending is very Hitchcock in letting you pick how you think the journey ended. The movie ending is just depressing for the sake of depression in my opinion. For a 1-1 adaptation it's pretty good until they leave the store, after that shit goes off the rails.
@mala62383 ай бұрын
Agreed, but the ending was not just slightly changed, it was a total different conclusion which directly framed Dr. Manhattan as the villain. I am not a big fan of the comic ending with the alien stuff, so I think it is an improvement. Other criticisms are the superpowers, but without them many situations like the war or fighting the criminals would make no sense to me. So I really like the movie, especially the ultimate cut.
