Peter just turned 88 in March and has NOT missed a beat. Quick, witty, and just a kind and wonderful human being. He is everything you see on TV (still) and then some to this day. Talented far beyond the scope of Hollywood Squares, he has been a 'song and dance man' since he was 14, has a lovely voice (remembers every single word of a song), and to this day, still performs and MC's. He has played lead men on Broadway and toured with bands and small ensembles all over. He is gracious with fans who approach him, accommodating them with autographs and pictures. We cherish him as a good personal friend, certainly not because of his fame, but simply because he is a truly one of a kind wonderful guy.

I understand why shows like this and Family Feud keep coming back after being off keep coming back. It's good clean classic fun!

Also, this was NOT Tom Bergeron's first time as a square. In Hollywood Squares Season 1 with Goldberg, Gilbert Gottfried & Rosie O'Donnell guest-hosted while Bergeron sat in their squares. NOTE: He did not get a name plate "Tom Bergeron" for his square. He had to stay with Gottfried & O'Donnell's name plates.

Actually, Peter DID wear long pants when he originally hosted "Squares"…"Storybook Squares", that is. Heatter-Quigley had a great knack for producing classy kid-friendly fun versions of their games ("Video Village Jr." and "Storybook Squares"). At this time, they were also launching their cartoon creation on CBS produced with Hanna-Barbera, "Wacky Races."

@Noveltooner Actually he only wore shorts when he did the January-September 1968 NBC Primetime and the 1971-1981 syndicated versions of the "Squares". He had to wear long pants on the NBC Daytime "Squares" be- cause, he stood up to greet new contestants.

This was only the 2nd time that Tom played as a panelist. The 1st time came in an early S1 episode (which GSN skipped over) wich had Rosie O'Donnell as one of the Squares aking if she could host a game, and Tom politely obliged and him and Rosie traded places and Rosie hosted a game and when Tom was one of the stars in the Squares, he was seen doing Rosie's trademark on her talk show: flinging koosh balls.

When I first started watching Hollywood Squares, it was obviously this version. I didn't know until I saw a clue on Jeopardy! that there was an original version with Peter Marshall and I also didn't know until watching a clip from the Most Outrageous Game Show Moments that there was an 80s version with John Davidson. Nevertheless, all three versions have been successful.

Tom Bergeron and the production crew did the right thing letting Peter Marshall host Hollywood Squares again in this episode, but if only Henry Winkler (since he was the last to executively produce Hollywood Squares) and the rest of the production crew brought back Marshall to host the show again on April Fool's Day 2003, it would be a much better April Fool's treat to enjoy than the joke they planned to play on Tom, the panelists, and us, the viewers!
