Yet again, another amazing reaction to one of SlipKnot's best songs from an amazing album that doesn't get the credit it deserves. The entire album is fire 🔥 and there is not one bad song on the album. Keep up the great work guys! You need to do "Override" from the Gray Chapter!!!
@crystalspears4652 жыл бұрын
So somethings that I've read, Corey has said that none of the songs on this album are about Joey, although some fans disagree and say there are. This album was about Paul and what everyone in the band was going through and feeling after his death and he said a lot of them did have survivors guilt because of the way Paul died (heart failure caused by an accidental drug overdose). Himself and many other members were feeling like they had missed signs to help him, that maybe if they had talked to him more or this or that, then they could've stopped it somehow. Which is what a lot of people feel when they lose someone in that way.
@kathy06982 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is possibly some survivor's guilt, but the guys tried to get him to seek help....numerous times. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink it.
@crystalspears4652 жыл бұрын
@@kathy0698 True. As someone who has experience with addicts and is a recovering addict myself, it is absolutely true that you can beg, plead, bargain, demand and intervene with that person but if they are not ready to get help and do better, then they won't. It has to be them that makes the choice to get clean. However, that usually doesn't stop the feelings of 'I should've done more' when something like this happens. When tragedy like that happens, humans tend to need to blame someone/something and a lot of times will blame themselves even if there was truly nothing they could've done.
@cannarun10 ай бұрын
@@crystalspears465well, are they blameless in relation to Joey, Chris and Jay, Craig maybe?
@crystalspears46510 ай бұрын
@@cannarun Being as I'm not in the band and I don't know any of them personally, I don't have regular conversations with them, I don't go to band meetings or rehearsals, I'm not in the private backstage areas with them and I'm not privy to private conversations behind closed doors; I can't say who has the "blame" in band members leaving. My previous comment was based on what Corey said about them having survivors guilt and what he said they were going through.
@crystalspears4652 жыл бұрын
Also fun fact and I'm not sure of the meaning behind it, if there was any but with the opening line: "I know why Judas wept, Motherfucker!" Corey could be showing some love to or inspiration form James O'Barr (The guy who wrote The Crow comics the movie is based on) as in one of the final chapters of the graphic novel, the phrase "I know why Jesus wept, Motherfucker!" is written on a wall. Maybe he changed it to Judas as a way to show how he was feeling with the guilt. The Crow is about a man who is killed and comes back to right the wrongs, this is a stretch but maybe part of him was wishing Paul could come back so that Corey could right a wrong and tell him how much he meant to him and how he was sorry for not being there for him more? Like I said a stretch but with that line in there, kinda makes me think.

Nice, this is one of the best songs on The Grey Chapter imo. Y'all should check out "The One That Kills The Least" from the same album sometime, it's a slower song but it's freaking incredible. Morning gentlemen, if you want to see a crazy thrash metal drummer? Pete Webber of Havok is a drumming monster. Nice guy too. It's a modern thrash band that use the big 4 as their influences. First experience should be covering fire. Over slept today. Has anyone had a dream that had a annoying noise you couldn't turn off and finally you wake up 2 hours later just to realize it's your alarm? Yeah that happened this morning but thankfully weekends are optional at my job. Come in when you feel like it. Work as long as you feel like. And damn guys, talking about wafflehouse is making me hungry. I haven't had it since I moved from Florida in 92. Used to get that before a day at Bush gardens or Adventure Island.

I'm not sure that Jay was even drumming on this album. To me, and some others I've spoken to, it feels like someone trying to replicate Joey's drumming (poorly, I may add) using programmed drums. They're too simple, feel flat and soulless, and are missing the lightning fast chops and fills like Joey was known for. Jay may not have even been in the band when the majority of this album was constructed. As for the song meaning, Smokey touched on survivor's guilt... so that may be Corey feeling guilty that he didn't die instead of Paul. After all, Corey's probably the one member who has survived the most overdoses, self harm and suicide attempts out of all the members, past and present.
@jangles18392 жыл бұрын
Definitely Jay

Joey he was fired away in 2013 Jay joined in 2014 so how could Joey's drums be in this song? they worked on songs after Joey left. Jay himself said in an interview that when he was auditioning he played 20 songs so Corey said "Jay you want to create songs with us" and not "you want to finish" the chapter gray is not Joyea, he would not even be able to play with them since he left Slipknot in 2013! the gray chapter it's jaya!
