There is same kind of finnish/savo saying: "Mie puhun 4 kieltä: Suomee. Savvoo, Hiljoo ja Kovvoo" meaning "I speak 4 languages: Finnish, Savo (regional dialect/accent), Quitly and Loudly". Savo is otherwise perfectly understandable finnish except savonian people talk like they are Pinochio in Shrek 2(?) when Prince Charming demands to know where Shrek is.

I went to my first Wacken last year and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Not even just the music (over 200 bands performed), but the people, the food, and the infrastructure that place has is just insane. Massages, metal yoga, cooking lessons, mad max themed shows in the wasteland, video game tournaments, comedy, an underground beer pipeline, a full sized grocery store that they build just for the week, thousands of amazing vendors, and truly the greatest people you'll ever meet from all over the world. Greatest festival ever, I can't wait to go back.

Glad to see you guys exploring the heavier side of Nightwish. I hope that sometime soon you'll check out the song "Your's Is An Empty Hope" from the 2015 Wembley Arena show. If you listen really closely to the vocals you'll get a big surprise from Floor. By the way, it's pronounced "Vah-ken". In German the W sounds like V. It's a fantastic three-day festival, I hope I can actually go one day before all my favorite bands retire.

It's one of the heaviest and coolest songs of Nightwish. Floor has way more aggressive vocals. It also shows how MARCO IS UNDERRATED AS A SINGER IMO: he's great in the parts he sings solo; in harmony with Floor, Marco goes up in key with her, sustaining the note, adding the light raspy tone so characteristic of him.

Commenting as I watch... Pesticide = Kills pests. Romanticide = Kills romance. However, this is not a "romantic" type song. Floor Jansen is just something amazing! She is 6 foot 1 bare footed, wears those 6" heels and has been doing so performing for over 20 years. She's used to it. The keyboard player is the founder of Nightwish, writes 97% of all songs including lyrics and all orchestral and choir parts prerecorded by the London Philharmonic orchestra and choir under his direction.... his name is Tuomas. Marco Bass/vocals Emppu Guitar Troy Pipes, winds, guitar and vocals Jukka Drums Floor Vocals More from this venue will be highly requested, so here's a list of the more popular songs.... Regarding Nightwish, here are some suggestions for you beside the incredible Wacken show, where each song is awesome and should be reacted to: -> „Weak Fantasy“ (Tampere): Kai the beastat the drums, Troy joins in, great duets with Floor and Marco, … -> "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" (Buenos Aires) will give you a metal and power blast: Maximum speed and Marco (the singing bass player) becomes Hannibal Lecter ;-) -> "Yours an Empty Hope" from Wembley (have a good look!! at the growls. You'll be surprised.) -> „Dead Boys Poem“ from Buenos Aires (so amazing and emotional) -> Elvenjig / Elvenpath (Buenos Aires): Awesome intro and it continues on that level -> "The greatest Show on Earth" (Tampere) is one of the two most epic songs. The title is not about the gig, but about the topic of the song: The evolution of mankind. -> "The Poet and the Pendulum“ (Wembley) is my personal absolute masterpiece of Nightwish. Be sure to know the background of this song ahead. Here is a short version: Tuomas (the keyboarder and composer) was in depression after the split from their first singer Tarja. He was in the position to either commit suicide in real real life or to write a song about it and die within that song. Luckily he choose the latter option. He is the poet, "killed" by the pendulum. And afterwards there is darkness, silence and just a fading heartbeat. It gives me a shiver every time. As this song is so emotional for him all the others have an eye on him. He even had his the vocals turned off in his in ears. Greetz from a German-Dutch concert photographer

It's cool to see that you guys have finally gotten back to some Nightwish. They make such amazing music. I would also like to point out some bands that many people have reacted to that you haven't and I think you would like. Unleash the Archers - Amazing female vocalist power metal band. Best starting song would be Awakening (live studio session) but I would also recommend their newest video Faster than Light. Or any of their other songs. They are amazing. Disturbed - Nu metal/Heavy metal band. Sound of Silence is David Draiman's most powerful singing but Down with the Sickness (any version other than the official video), Inside the Fire, Perfect Insanity, and Another Way to Die are all kickass songs that are more emblematic of the band's sound. The Offspring - Punk/Pop-Punk band. Check out The Kid's Aren't Alright, Self-Esteem, and Pretty Fly (for a White Guy). For a longer song check out Pay the Man. Halestorm - Hard rock band. Lzzy Hale is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. Check out Miss the Misery, Mz. Hyde, Love Bites (So Do I), and Get Off. I would also like to reiterate my suggestion for reacting to the rock band EarlyRise, who nobody has reacted to. Check out Become Mad, Old Friend, Shell, or Wasteland.

Some info about W:O:A (Wacken Open Air) for you: The festival was founded in 1990 by some guys (heavy metal fans) from the village Wacken (2000 inhabitans, approx. 50 km north-west of Hamburg) who "suffered" from the lack of their favourite music in the area and thought it would be a good idea to start their own festival. So they invited some local metal bands to play there. They choose a skeleton bullhead as their logo, because they wanted to use something to show that they are "boys from the countryside" and the area there is known for its cattle farms. In the first year there was just 1 (self-constructed) stage with 6 local bands and 800 visitors, who gathered at a gravel pit just outside the village in August. It was a success and over time the festival grew and grew to 9 stages and 200 bands from all over the world with visitors from 84 countries in 2019. There are 75.000 regular tickets which have been sold out every year since 2010. For 2020 the festival was sold out in 21 hours but then had to be cancelled due to Corona-Virus. They then organized Wacken World Wide as a free live stream with the XR(virtual reality) stage and invited some bands to a studio for live gigs but without an audience. Additionally some bands recorded concerts (again without audience) at small venues in their home countries and showed some archived shows from previous Wacken festivals. For this event they changed their usual greeting from "See you at Wacken - rain or shine" to "See you at Wacken - rain or shine...or online". It was not the same because the whole festival atmosphere and all the "metalhead family feeling" at Wacken was missing but it was the best they could do under these circumstances. In the description to the 2019 trailer they wrote "Watch the trailer and get an idea why people call a gathering of 75.000 metal heads a family meeting!" and it really feels like that. Wacken became the Mekka for metalheads. If you are in heavy music, you should do a pilgrimage to Wacken at least once in your life. Absolutely peaceful and people care for their fellow metalheads, just an amazing expierience.

The higher the heel, the better your legs and hips look but the more difficult it is to keep balance and to move. The size of one's feet can make a difference since there's a different ratio of sole to heel which changes where the center of gravity is. I have size 9W feet, and I can move comfortably in most 4" no-platform shoes. I can still move in 5" no-platform heels, but things that challenge my balance -- like headbanging -- become more difficult. The surface is also really important. Lots of stage flooring is slippery as hell. Stilettos are harder to move in since the metal tends to slip over a lot of different types of surfaces. Language is constantly shifting and always changing. The fastest changes usually come with individual vocabulary. Slang words get introduced every generation. Meanings expand or contract or change altogether: A skyline used to refer to any horizon but now it specifically refers to horizons in a city with buildings; A Kleenex used to be a specific brand of tissue but now it's a generic term for tissue; Nice went from foolish to timid to fussy to careful to delightful, and now it means kind. The next are sound changes with vowels being the most prone to it. If you want to know why English spelling is so messed up, here's a good summary of The Great Vowel Shift from Middle English to Early Modern English: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jICycpVtmtd0o6c On a side note, we're undergoing vowel shifts all the time. There's one happening right now around the Great Lakes and the so-called Rust Belt (the Northern Cities Vowel Shift). Syntactic (or grammatical) changes can happen slowly or quickly depending on outside pressures. Old English was doing its slow thing for centuries until the Danes decided to settle in some parts of the island, and then suddenly there were a whole lot of grammatical changes that happened relatively quickly. You know how we have different pronouns for different grammatical functions? Like I for the subject, me for the object, and my for the possessive? There used to be different words like that for all nouns and not just pronouns. Because of that word order was freer. In English, you must have the subject first followed by the verb, and then maybe a direct object or indirect object. In Old English, you could rearrange the order of those functions and it might be a little poetic, but it would still be understandable (a bit like Yoda-speak). On a side note, AAVE aka Ebonics is not an area of expertise for me, but I like reading about it when I get the chance, because it is a dialect of English that often incorporates grammatical features that were quite possibly borrowed from West African languages, i.e. the indicative 'is' vs the habitual 'be' distinction. Syntax gets me hyperfocused, which is why I just went on about it for two long paragraphs. Sorry. My point was supposed to be that language is fluid and dynamic and always changing, but if the spelling/orthography doesn't change with it, then you get things like 'knight' and 'bathe' and 'roof.'

Really liked you talking about the English language. It' nice to hear native speakers too think the pronunciation rules make no sence, if there are any. My favorite example is the words "cease" and "seize". As far as I know they are pronounced exact the same. As a Finn it is impossible for me to understand. We don't have spelling bees in Finland and you seldom hear "How do you spell it?", because spelling is so easy. When you hear a word you automatically know how it's spelled. Every letter has a pronunciation value that's a constant and every letter has to be pronounced. Finnish kids learn to read and write faster and better than English speaking children. But over all Finnish language is very difficult for foregners to learn. One of the most difficult languages there is. Greetings from Helsinki Finland!🇫🇮 (More Nightwish reactions please!)

About the heels. At this concert she wore boots which are imo easier to walk in. But compare that to the pumps she wore at Tampere 👀 now THAT seems harder to me, maybe because I can’t walk in pumps for shit 😅😂

The good way to pronunce it is "Vacken" like a "V" instead of the "W" ;-)

Yes the trouble pronouncing Waken is English speakers trouble with German. Closest sound I have ever heard like that slide at the end: Racing engine winding up to redline.

And the A is as in father, or sha-la-la-lah. Like in almost all the languages besides English :)

where did you get that idea from? i havent heared any german say that. Its always been a W
@ooO0VicariouS0Ooo4 жыл бұрын
@@themplar because I went there, and that's how it's pronunced in this place.

@@themplar Pronounced, not written. The German V is pronounced as F. I'm sure some German kids make mistakes between them.
