I'm 44 years old and I discovered this album in 1991. I have produced techno, hip-hop, played guitar in metal and blues bands, played drums in other bands, did some SRV covers, and to this day, there is no piece of music that impresses me more than Rust in Peace. The album is an absolute masterpiece of technicality, musicianship and song-writing. Even Ed Repka's album art is timeless. Every song on the album is amazing. Quick note for the uninitiated: Dave Mustain (singer, rhythm guitar, lead guitar) and Marty Friedman (lead guitar) both played guitar solos on this song. The fast pattern style playing is Dave, while the exotic flowing stuff is Marty. It's pretty damn rare for both guitarists in a band to both play solos.

Drummer was Nick Menza... RIP!!! Rust in Peace was released in 1990. I remember a Megadeth t-shirt back in high school in the 80's that gave 2 definitions for Megadeth on the back. So, Dave Mustaine, the singer and guitar player, used to play with Metallica. After a falling out he founded his own band and forged his own path. Both are great bands, and heavily influenced thrash metal from the 80's going forward, but there is a bit of a historic "beef" between the two. Roswell "crash" was 1947. Rust in Peace was released in 1990, just after Bob Lazar went public. Megadeth was founded in 1983 after Dave left/was kicked out of Metallica.

He hasn't shown any signs of carpal tunnel yet, and can still play just that fast...he just might be as crazy as his lyrical performances suggest, only he keeps it well wrapped.

The grins on your faces at the end says it all. RUST IN PEACE is fire in album form. Lazar did talk about element 115 a long time ago. It's only recently been found by mainstream science and added to the periodic table. Roswell was the late 40s I think. Rust in peace was released late 1990. You're getting into my lore and some my favorite music. Here Megadeth is conflating two separate things from UFO lore to spin this allegory. The first is a reference to the Roswell incident in 1947; the wreckage was allegedly transported to Wright-Patterson Air Force base in Ohio, and stored in Hangar 18. It's a bit of a creative liberty, and a common one, to place Hangar 18 in Area 51 as the song is, but it gets the point across. This album is a fucking banger from beginning to end. It was originally released in 1990.
