The toilet paper got my attention. Watching you sand it had my sympathy. BTW, once you mix resin you can add all kinds of things to it. Wood flour is a favorite, the super fine powder you can collect from sanding. It's free! You can mix it in to make a paste like peanut butter. Talcum powder. Saw dust. Sand. Bed sheet fabric. T-shirt fabric. Printed fabrics show through if they are the outermost layer.

A trick I used to do when I worked in the makeup effect shops and I was "tapping glass", is to wear multiple gloves over each other, then when they start to get too "furry", to just pull one off and then you've got a new set of gloves already on your hand (and you don't have to take the other ones off and try to get your sweaty hands into a new pair of gloves). I usually would wear two to three pairs of gloves at a time, depending on how long my application was. It works great because, after a while, your hands get pretty furry and it just gets in the way and becomes such a big mess. It's easier to just peel off one set of gloves and then have two fresh ones underneath them. Love your videos!😊🎃❤

@@HollywoodHaunter Yeah! I know I’ve used paper towels on book covers. I got the paper towels from a expensive hotel (my daughter went to a Convention for cosplay). The paper towels actually were cool looking and made the book look great for her cosplay. The vintage look with out take a real vintage book. She wanted to take my 1897 Dracula book 1st edition, I think a gave my daughter a crazy look because she said can me make one that looks vintage. 😂 It was so fun to do.

I note you work out of the same cup yoi mix your resin in, I found if you pour your catalised resin out of the cup into a painters tray so it's more spread out you get more time before the redin start to gel compared to working out of the cup

Thanks, I will give this a try.

Awesome work, as always. Your son will wake up someday and realize that other kids don't have dads that do this! Fascinating idea, to totally wet out the strand before applying it. I noticed you kept a piece of the chopped strand on your table underneath the pieces as you applied the resin. Did that help them to not stick to the table so much? 8:03 LOL! The dentist at work! I don't know how toxic that gel coat is, but I was surprised you weren't wearing a VOC mask. Not meaning to be critical at all, and maybe the wind was helping you, but I can't stand being near that stuff for very long without wearing one.

The past few years leading up to October have been our busiest work months. Others have contacted us to build Halloween props for them so we end up being pretty slammed with work which is a good thing. We also moved from the house we were haunting at and don't have the same set up like we did there. We have been enjoying trick or treating and taking the little guy to see tons of haunts each year which has been cool but hopefully we'll get back at it here soon.

We make props and scenery and dabble in reselling vintage items. We enjoy creating KZbin content but just don't get the traffic a person needs to survive off on its own. Even though we have a baby size channel we will continue to share projects because it's fun and we hope it inspires others to create and finish their projects. Thanks for the feedback

Do you think it would be possible to hard-coat foam tombstones with just tissue and resin? (perhaps after a layer of paint to protect the foam?)
@HollywoodHaunter3 жыл бұрын
I was thinking it may be possible but then I guess I'd just hard coat it with a couple layers of foam safe epoxy instead. It would cost a little more but be less trouble.

@@HollywoodHaunter thank you, another few questions.... 😜 How many coats/ layers of mortar do you all put on the pumpkins and how well do they hold up outdoors? Do I paint after tile mortar then seal, or mortar, seal, paint, seal again? Also, do you all not find monster mud to be a good outdoor finish even after sealing?? So many questions I know, you guys are just my only source with similar outdoor projects made of styrofoam. Thank you sooooo much for your guidance and wisdom!!!! You guys are awesome 😎
