Hugh Jackman always looks so interested in everything people are saying. He's not waiting for his turn to talk, instead, he's just simply enjoying the company. That's very admirable especially for an actor of his caliber.

I love how Timothée Chalamet is humble and respects the fact that the actors around him are more experienced and that he genuinely pays attention and appreciates what everyone is saying, but at the same time all the other older actors sitting around him are also paying attention to what he is saying. It's just amazing to see the mutual respect each of them have for each other.

Mr Gomes no it’s not discussions about any certain philosopher. It’s based off the different topics ur learning (for instance an essay ur class just wrote or a book you all read) and u all have to have a conversation that has certain checkpoints in order to get ur points for the grade. It’s always just been really awake and and forced to me. Doesn’t flow naturally.

Being a perfectionist is really a personality. Some people have their moments of perfectionism, but it's an experience. Unfortunately, it has become as they say in this round-table a word people use incorrectly to hide their insecurities among other things. Perfectionist personalities only make up 10% of the population. It's unfortunate that the negative connotations and potential pitfalls of perfectionism are often emphasized more prominently, leading to misunderstandings.

What Chadwick says at the end, about drawing the line about which parts of your private life you're willing give up in exchange for fame, takes a whole new meaning in retrospect. He knew people would have wanted to know that he was running out of time. But he didn't share that, because it would've made people look at him differently, and he didn't owe that information to the world. He wanted to be known for his art and that alone, and that is commendable.

@Benedict Aditya Shukla Benedict Aditya Shukla Of course he's a pretty face! He's more like the definition of beauty (at least for me :D). But he's more beyond that. The way he speaks and present himself is so far beyond his years. He doesn't seem to take anything for granted (his fame, fans, awards...). And I could go on and on... Timothée's personality - that's the thing I appreciate the most about him. And let's be honest, he's not really a prototype of today's Hollywood star. I mean, the movie (as well as music) industry today is full of fake and superficiality... Sorry for my bad English! :)

Watching Timothée conduct himself makes me think of when you're asked: "Who would you have as guests at your ideal dinner party?" You can see the reverence he has for all of them as he listens rather than trying to jump in and have his say. Everything that he says is deliberate and well-thought. That said, you can also see him grow more comfortable as the interview progresses, particularly as these acting giants nod along and essentially validate his own perspective and don't merely dismiss him as young or inexperienced. They all clearly were engaged and eager to hear his thoughts. Truly a great discussion and a fascinating group of actors.

What Chadwick and Mahershala made mention to with being of African descent yet always searching for your culture was spot on. I think that's a struggle all African Americans deal with that a lot of people don't really take into account. Having a sense of history is more important than people realize and not having that can greatly affect a person/group of people.

\Levi - l\ plus /net -n/ plus /sue/ equals Ivainesu it’s not just about learning about Africa, but it’s finding out where exactly in Africa you come from. And that’s hard, and most of the time there’s this mental things like you can’t really just throw yourself into a culture you never had the chance to have a first hand experience with. So even if black people do that there’s still a lot left to be considered.
@Kardinaal29
@Kardinaal29 5 жыл бұрын
@\Levi - l\ plus /net -n/ plus /sue/ equals Ivainesu Learning about Africa is one thing but learning about a specific country/region your ancestors came from is even better. Sure I could learn about Algeria, Egypt, heck even Somalia but chances are my ancestors weren't from there. No one ever says learn about a whole continent unless it's pertaining to black Americans. Italian Americans learn about Italy. Korean Americans learn about Korea. Hispanic Americans learn about Mexico or Guatemala for example. Black Americans, learn a whole continent, why don't you. You can say we're privileged and maybe we are but if we knew more about our ancestry and formed a connection to it maybe we'd be more inclined to bring some of that privilege to Africa knowing the state it's in.

\Levi - l\ plus /net -n/ plus /sue/ equals Ivainesu the media has done a terrific job at demonizing the African continent. They always show the hungry children and the people walking around naked. When I was a kid I would say “I don’t wanna go to Africa because they walk around naked and live with animals and there are deserts and everyone is poor” it wasn’t until I got older that I realized what the media was doing. Africa has cities and civilization, and yes rich culture. I am aware that there are many places in Africa stricken with poverty and famine, but there are places like that literally everywhere. You assume I just want the “good” parts of Africa without looking at it as a whole. And Only seeing negative aspects of Africa as an African American child greatly affected me, and countless other kids. African Americans as a whole search for what it means to be us all our lives. We aren’t fully American obviously, given the way this country treats us, so we desire to learn about the heritage we were robbed of when we were violently taken from our homes. And we HAVE built a culture for ourselves here in America but a person is not complete without knowing their heritage.

\Levi - l\ plus /net -n/ plus /sue/ equals Ivainesu I do in fact invest time in learning about Africa, and I do intend on taking an ancestral dna test to find out where exactly I come from and from what people so I can learn more about my ancestral culture. And I do want to visit Africa, ALL of Africa, the good and the bad. I am aware that being in America gives me more opportunities but that has nothing to do with me wanting to learn more about myself.

\Levi - l\ plus /net -n/ plus /sue/ equals Ivainesu we praise Black Panther because for once African culture is shown in a positive, and powerful light compared to what the media often portrays. And it shows the different perspectives of Africans and African Americans and their different experiences. It also shows what Africa could’ve become if she had not been assaulted by colonialism. And overall it’s just a great movie about politics, culture, self discovery, and family.

Usually we don't see actors as intellectuals, but I felt like I was listening to a group of philosophers talking about life, although it revolves around acting. But the craft of acting can in itself bring to life the philosophy of human experience through their art work. As for Boseman, he was in a stage of his life where he was seeing things on a much deeper or more spiritual level due to his cancer battle. It's unfortunately that such a gifted individual was only around for a short time, but he still managed to leave so much in a short period of time to the world. But you can tell he had so much more to offer. Even Timothy despite being young is already showing a high level of maturity and intellect as an actor. Every actor on that round table brought something of substance to the conversation. This was a great round table overall.

Actors tend to have a high EQ - emotional intelligence, a components that was overlooked up until a couple of decades ago in terms of measuring intellect (just IQ). Sensitivity, compassion and comprehension of another person's feelings is a skill in itself in being able to perform their roles well. It's especially important in portrayals where it's more natural vs mechanical. 'What was he feeling when he said this?' instead of 'When he talks like this, he positions his body this way'.

All the other actors offered great insights too but you could see Chadwick giving you a rare taste of the fruits of his beautiful mind and heart being created right at that moment. What a noble and beautiful man, inside and out. Such a gorgeous smile and regal demeanor. May his soul rest in peace, it hurts me to think that he is no longer with us. I know they’re all there to listen to each other speak but I love the fact that in comparison to the rest of them Timothée is by far the youngest as well as the most inexperienced, but the way he speaks and presents himself is so far beyond his years, it astounds me, so I can only imagine how the rest of the group feels when they hear him so eloquently and maturely answers these questions! You can see how intently they’re listening to his every word which is a huge complement to Timothée, as they clearly don’t view him as a young actor who came into a bit of luck but instead a young actor who is deserving of the accolades and attention. I kinda feel proud of him🙂
