the chemistry between the participants was on point. respectful yet light hearted and funny at times.

What are you doing THR? We love the old roundtable. No audience, just the all of them in an actual round table talking. I don’t like this new concept.

They already have the director's roundtable up.

Agreed. I hate when they make it live. It should have been a traditional roundtable.

Yeah, please the old format was so much better in terms of intimacy and honesty. They're talking differently, feeling the need to explain themselves to a bunch of people rather than talking among peers. Feeling like a fly on the wall was far cooler.

That was a really interesting video, although calling it a round table is a bit of a stretch with there not being a table. ;) Still, I look forward to seeing all of their movies, except for Velvet Buzzsaw which I saw last night and really enjoyed.

I really dislike the live roundtables. To me it defeats the entire point of Close Up. I was so excited after they posted the actresses one, but if the rest are live I'm not interested.

This is not a round table. While I appreciate this can be interesting for its own reasons, call it something different as this has nothing to do with round table as the point of those is the discussion among the participants, not a Q&A. :(

Fiiiiiinally some diverse representation!! Way to go THR, keep it up. It's so important to see and hear from these different background and perspectives.

Am sorry the film school thing i dont really agree with, i dont think you should show films to students just because they are by a female director, thats just so condescending. The reason frankenstein is read in literature classes isnt because it was written by a female, its just a kickass dope story people loved and continued to talk about. i didnt even know it was written by a woman until we read it in my literature class.

I think you need to force it sometimes because certain ppl will dismiss/ignore what they don't find attractive.
@Everburn65 жыл бұрын
Wow I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing. I definitely agree with you and I also don't think the whole female director push is a worthwhile cause. Not because females shouldn't direct but because they JUST talked about how available and democratic the medium of film is because of digital filmmaking. Literally anyone can do it and no one is preventing females from making films. I think the issue lies in interest. How many females actually WANT to become directors? Why don't they push for more female construction workers? or female firefighters? Maybe because they simply don't have an interest there... We live in America where anybody can do anything. I'm tired of this victimization culture where people think that they're being held back by 'the white man.'
