Rene Lichtman, a Holocaust survivor and hidden child accuses Israel of genocide and draws parallels between the Israeli army and the Nazis: “I see it as genocide. it's difficult for me to say that, but it's equivalent to what happened in the Holocaust.”
The son of two Polish Jews who fled to France during the 1930s, Rene was hidden at the age of two with a Catholic family outside of Paris after his father was killed during the 1940 Nazi invasion and his mother was forced into hiding. After the war, Rene moved with his mother to Brooklyn, New York. He was politically radicalized in the 1960s and became an active opponent of the Vietnam War. Rene was a founding member of the World Federation of Jewish Child Survivors of the Holocaust. On December 22, 2023, Rene took part in a demonstration outside of the Zekelman Holocaust Center in Farmington Hills, Michigan, against the US-backed Israeli massacres in Gaza.

It may well have been popularized by Christian, Jewish, and Muslim mystics alike, many centuries before it was adopted as explicitly a Jewish symbol, but I see no evidence it has originated outside the abrahamic traditions, nor that its use was “appropriative.” When Jews began using it heavily we did not have the status we do now. A personal story. So it was mid 80’s living with my family in palestine. My dad had returned to his homeland of generations because he wanted to use the education he acquired to help his people. We however were put through a process , which is intended to deny Palestinians who left the country from returning. My dad had left to university. Then a job. Anyway we had been there for maybe 6 months , visa stay about to expire and had out bags packed for several Weeks near the door so as to be ready when the military would come to deport us. It’s a common tactic to keep the nakba going. Just 1 of millions of stories of injustice and dehumanizing of us for decades.

I've been following Finkelstein for decades and he does reveal his family history very fully. I've always found his commentary extremely clear and direct. Edward Said is/was more eloquent in his language and literacy but comes to the same facts and truth. How should one speak and form sentences and language when it comes to the worst possible behaviour of sapiens? The Israelis aren't even intelligent to know the fact that we sapiens are ALL "human animals". They, 95% of the population of Israel fully supports genocide and extermination of the semitic people called "Palestinians" and "arabs". But then Israelis are trying to conduct a 19th century war in the 21st century. Fortunately for sapiens Israel has destroyed itself. In just one generation Israel will not exist at all, unless perhaps Russia and Ukraine get together and donate some land on both sides of the current Ukraine/Russia border. I’ve been educating myself on the holocaust lately and can’t count how many uncanny similarities I’ve recognized. Even in the Warsaw ghetto when they knew they were gonna die so they wanted to take out as many Germans they could regardless using whatever sources they could, and the Germans were trying to destroy as much as they could and let them die in the rubble of the building and make it unliveable. It just gives me chills how similar it is. And of course the Germans tried to keep it a secret, they knew what would happen if they found out (but I’m also sickened that I’ve heard the US had ariel pictures showing labeled as exactly what those facilities were and didn’t do anything to help) they purposely made sure the sadists weren’t the ones involved because they would’ve made it too obvious, and slowly got the public used to what they were doing. They were just normal people. The Israelis have been so badly brainwashed and I feel like this is even messier than the holocaust. They were a society obviously scared from the war and how evil they learned humans could be that now you have Israel as the result.

Can someone please explain to me how Palestine will be "free"? Will it have a free government? Freedom of the press? Freedom of speech? Freedom of religion? Equal rights for women? Just a few years ago, Gaza decreed that unmarried women could not travel without the permission of a male guardian. LGBTQ rights? Homosexuality is a crime punishable by death throughout the Islamic world. You're dreaming if you think this would be any different in Palestine. I think there was some study done in Isreali schools some years back where they spoke about oppression done by other countries (but the things done in the Isreali-Palestine conflict were actually the basis of the study) and these kids agreed it was wrong and were on the side of the oppressed. I had the honor of hearing Rene speak as a younger child. I grew up in Michigan, and as a middle school student you are taken to the Holocaust museum in Farmington for a field trip. I like this guy. Very interesting life that he's lived and he's seen some things. He's exactly right and has helped to give some insight into what is going on.
