Gustav Holst - such an interesting man and such wonderful music that is played around the world by the great professional orchestras, bands, wind ensembles, and choruses at all levels. What a remarkable legacy he left all of us. And you know, he was a trombone player!

Juliana Alohaz That's the thing about pieces like this. They're not hard to play "right." It's just that there's so much more beyond the right notes.

Intonation is the thing that separates amateur bands from professional bands like this one. I've been in school honor bands that could play all of the notes, but there are always a few players who aren't quite in tune. String players in an orchestra can get away with being slightly out of tune and hide it with vibrato, but in a concert band with wind instruments everything is exposed and you really hear when someone is out of tune.
