With "Do not judge anybody" comes another point: "don't feel or act as if you're beeing judged". I've seen guys smoke a 10 dollar cigar, drink a simple coffee and drive away with a 500k Ferrari afterwards. Smoke what you like, behave naturally, you're helping everybody else relaxing.

Agree but as someone else said, "read the room". When its regulars sitting around, making a customer feel awkward. Too many lounges do this. The staff at the very least need to not be D bags. People nowadays are way too tribal. Cigar lounges should not be a part of that low brow mentality.

So, I'm iffy about eventually getting into one. But, no where better to learn more about them than a lounge.

@@DragonZXDragsteryou should start one. It doesn’t have to be big. Or complex. It can be a 10 person lounge. Just your own personal project that you invite others into. You do have to get the right permits for a smoking indoors a commercial business and to sell the cigars as well, but there are so many resources for learning how to design and build it. Make your plans and have a contractor make it a reality. It can be pricy to do up proper air filtration.. so investors from local tobacconists could be good. Thoughts

@WaitAMinute1989 I wear socks with sandals but don’t vape. I couldn’t care less about societal expectations or judgement over footwear. Sandals can be way more comfortable than shoes in some casual settings, but sweaty feet after a few hours on a warm/hot day can make sandals very uncomfortable and lead to chaffing. Socks completely solve that problem. They’re just downright comfy with the right sandals in the right setting. What cares what other people think? If I’m walking around a big car show, I’m not there to impress anyone, I’m there to have a good time and be comfortable.

So as a newbie going into a lounge for the first time because of what I learned from these videos I asked the tobacconist questions and told him I've never smoked one and he was extremely helpful in every way. As he asked me If I'd like for him too cut my cigar for me I say No thank you I bought a lighter and cutter from the store, cut it, toasted it, lit it properly and he looked at me like "You said you've never smoked one?" 😂 It was an amazing experience all thanks too your videos I knew how too be much more comfortable for a first timer and too be confident and not afraid too ask questions. Thanks for these tips. I've committed some of these faux pas mentioned. I'll do better. TL;DR My experience.... I used to frequent a cigar lounge outside Richmond, VA about 10 years ago that I loved. I was a young guy, and I would go in the lounge a few times a week between shifts as a server at the Ruby Tuesday and a job on a horse farm. The place had very comfortable furnishings, TV's set to low volume, natural lighting, and the largest cigar selection in VA. Lloyd was the gentleman's name that I normally saw working this particular location, and he was as professional, knowledgeable, accommodating, and kind as they come. even in my server uniform, I never felt judged by him or the regulars that I came to recognize. My favorite was the Perdomo Lot 23. Not an expensive stick, but great for my budget. I'd smoke half my stick, nod off in the chair, and wake up to smoke the other half. I would leave in my 04 Honda and other folks would leave in brand new Audis and such. We all had great fellowship over cigars and hospitality. I still reminisce about that season of life.

I live in NE Florida, and the cigar lounges around me are totally accepting of me as a pipe smoke. For any other pipe smokers out there who wonder why they might be getting a bad vibe from the staff when they come on to just smoke a pipe, heres a bit of advice: either purchase some pipe tobacco if they sell it there, even if you brought your own favorite blend to smoke, or tip the staff at the cigar counter or in the humidor. Make some kind of contribution to the establishment. And definitely ask if theyre cool with pipe tobacco. Most of them will be, sometimes they arent. Just be a decent person.

When I first got into cigars, I actually had nowhere to smoke them. I bought four Oliva Connecticut Reserve Churchills (crazy size for a first smoke but they just appealed to me and I didn't know what to buy at the time). So a few days after I bought them, I came back to my lounge but had already purchased these, and got a cutter off of Amazon. I asked the owner if it was okay that I brought my own that I bought previously and he was very welcoming about it because he knew I was a beginner. I felt slightly scummy since I didn't buy them that day, and I figured it was the perfect time to buy a new lighter, so I bought it that day just to smoke them there. I've moved a ways away from that shop, but that was my first experience and have been smoking since! Lounges/shops are very welcoming as long as you're respectful and just ask questions if you need something!

If you are new to all lounge and you want to return there from time to time it's a good idea to buy a cigar on your first visit of course but also maybe by two or three more before you leave. Hihi, is there a specific attire that one needs to adhere to when visiting a lounge?
@holtscigarsАй бұрын
It depends on the lounge but in most cases, no. If you're unsure give the lounge a call and ask!

Choking someone out in a cigar lounge in response to a few comments about your karate class...epic, I can't stop laughing. Anyway, has anyone really ever put their feet on the table?
@holtscigars2 ай бұрын
Seeing feet go on tables isn't nearly as rare of a sighting as seeing someone getting choked out 😂

@@holtscigars I can imagine however the good news is, to recover from the spectacle would require a decent cigars shared with sane people. Namaste.

Loved it, another thing that drives me crazy is when you have a single lady go in a lounge and the guys becomes morons and don’t let her enjoy her cigar. She is there for the same reason you are, to unwind relax and reboot before going back to reality. Not to get hit on or gawked at. Most of the time you lost that customer and it’s a shame.

As far as not smoking what you brought, what if you previously bought it at that store and have had it in your humidor? I typically pick up at least 2 or 3 at a time and, if I do sit down, it's usually only for 1 cigar.

They shouldn't have a problem if you got the cigar there and are a repeat customer. Never hurts to ask if you aren't sure

Question: What if you’ve cut your cigar, say a torpedo or perfecto shape, you do a dry pull and realize you need to cut more? How do you handle that in a lounge? I agree with not using a communal cutter after your cigar has been in your mouth, but what should you do in this situation?
@holtscigars5 ай бұрын
Carry an inexpensive personal cutter with you if you need to take a little more off the cap. A V cutter is also ideal for torpedo or perfecto cigars to get the best draw without taking away from the shape

I will say that some of the best friends I've ever had have been met in the cigar lounge. Great relationships fantastic blonde great brotherhood. And I learned about cigars from a lot of those crusty old veterans

What do you think about someone smoking something like a black an mild? Or some other gas station cigar?

I go to a lounge/ cigar bar that is mainly a bar where they have included cigars and lockers for regulars. I always bring my own sticks, but always order drinks and tip as if i was buying from them. I have seen owners mad at others who come in groups because it’s free to come into and smoke your own and not buy even a sprite from them.

First and foremost, I do enjoy your videos appreciate the content. I find your videos to be informative and in the true spirt of helping others fully enjoy their cigar experience . In regards to the content of this video I totally agree in patronizing the cigar lounge where you are going to enjoy the selection of cigars, atmosphere and the amenities of the lounge. What are your thoughts about the new trend in the cigar lounge where you can go in and purchase your cigars....but, if you want to enjoy the lounge, there is a monthly membership fee or even perhaps a daily fee. I have been experiencing this trend and have encountered membership fees to be $150 to $200 per month or $20 per visit. I hope I am not too off topic but I thought I would have others weigh in.

The establishment has a right to have their own rules & protocol. If you find value in it then indulge. If not find another lounge or store. Like anything else in life you have choices. Enjoy!

In social media Cigar lounges often get portrayed as these places with pre made expectations and rules that you must be a master of prior to entering. While in ways its true the regulars at every lounge ive been to are always enthusiastic to share. Ask questions if you dont know prior and you will have a great time
