I keep telling you guys, you are sitting on a gold mine! Record it all in some way that doesn't hinder the work, but also gets us things we couldn't possibly see anywhere else. The amount of awesome, unique content passing by you guys is insane. Sure exhausts are nice and complete the car experience, but it's "Fluid MotorUnion", lets get those fluids and motors content as well :) This video is as awesome as it should be, covering all the mysteries, keep this up! (First some cool history/context, then the diagnosing right or wrong, revealing the mysteries, just real world natural stuff.. perfect hit, love it!)

As a kid growing up in the 70's & 80's and watching the reruns of the Batman TV Series, those pipes sticking up behind the cockpit aren't exhaust pipes but rather Motar Tube Launchers! The batmobile was always meant to be purely jet turbine propelled but obviously (as a prop) it had a normal gasoline powered ICE (hense the hidded tailpipes)!

If you watch the old shows with Adam West those three tubes on the back trunk are rocket launchers not exhaust pipes

Yes.....Offenhauser is a thing....I don't know if they are still made...but it was the bomb back in the day for hot rodding

That's pretty cool to have an opportunity to see. Never really thought about the original being made of steel until you showed those clips of Burt Ward jumping around on the car. Great advice on the carb. Having a modern design Quick Fuel carb installed to replace an old (and often rebuilt) 90s Holley has been a noticeable upgrade on my 50 year old Corvette in both drivability and reliability.

Back in the sixties as a young kid I got to watch the Batman movie in a movie theater. What really wowed me was the startup sequence with the flames coming out of that jet exhaust. I put glasspacks on my '68 Buick Gran Sport 350 right under the front seat. Even though the engine was clapped out that exhaust configuration made it have a loss of bottom end power. And yes, Offenhauser was a thing back then. My '64 Pontiac Lemans had a 326 with an auto three speed tranny

If I remember right, the three pipes on top were mortal or grenade launchers

I worked at Fantasy Cars with John Sbrigato in 2009 when the original Batmobile was purchased at auction after being burned in a warehouse. That is not the exhaust! Those are for launching flares! The flare launchers were cheap exhaust tips barely attached by a small tab with a single self tapping screw and we fabricated new ones and had them chromed. the original also didn't have an opening trunk. To fill the VW Beetle gas tank strapped down in the trunk. you had to crawl through from the interior. The original engine was seized, But I built a 390 from a Thunderbird and installed it. My point is, We altered the original quite a bit to improve it. We were very surprised when Barris bought it back for over a million dollars!

Thanks for sharing that, it's really interesting to hear about the history of this car

I'm pretty sure the core support for the radiator is from a mid-70s Corvette because I just happened to install one in my car this week. I don't see much else that looks like a c3 otherwise.

Simpler times, times when people could be thrilled and intrigued by less expensive and less complicated designed and concepts. Imagination was involved. Now it takes Star Trek levels of tech and 100 billion bits per second to occupy the attention of a young person for 2 minutes before they're bored, and no imagination is involved.

Boy oh boy, I'm fricking old! From the three minute to the four minute mark I was like "Yes this is a typical SB build and you just need to do what I referred to as "getting ready for the weekend tuneup". And if it had the original points distributor, well give me a call I guess? :)

If it is a Barris Batmobile he built 5 . 4 were fiberglass with a mold off the first one

That’s. A standard Gm g body frame.

You are right. And, in the door jam it was g-body also. So fiberglass parts on a G-body car. Small block Chevy w a TH350 trans.

It sounds like a Ford Lincoln ( M E L ) engine not a chevy of course I could be wrong and it could be a powerglide too but in a Lincoln Chassis ??? Well O J haha I watched Batman as a 5 year old kid and had comic books and Car books and magazines and the Car culture all around me growing up and even a Bat Man and Robin lunch pail so it was awesome to be reminded of an imaginitive time from my past it was also nice meeting you at the 600k mile Lexus for AMD and Jason and Alex was there too a great time and love y’alls channels I was there with my LS430 and my cocker spaniel ❤😊
