Agree with the portable changing mat. I also keep some nappy cream, nappy sacks and hand sanitizer in mine. If we’re just popping out and I don’t need my whole changing bag, i just take this and a small handbag.

Totally agree with the M&P seat!! We use ours every day and he's 7m! My baby item I could not live without is a dreamegg white noise machine. Absolute life saver!!!
@Andserkiel3 жыл бұрын
Everyone’s holy grail items are so varied, it really shows how every baby is different. For example we have never darkened the room or adjusted noise levels for nap times and my baby sleeps fine and will in the pram outside without a shade or cover. My best item is the prep machine, she’s an impatient eater so couldn’t imagine waiting for kettle water to cool! Plus it was only £10 on Facebook marketplace

Hi Shan could you tell me how you put him to bed when he was newborn? As in, swaddle, blankets, bodysuits etc? I'm so worried about do it wrong.
@HomeWithShan3 жыл бұрын
I used the love to dream swaddles lovely xxxx
@picklesoupcase3 жыл бұрын
Firstly, don't use blankets as they come with many hazards. My daughter didn't like to be swaddled so I used sleeping bags from when she was a few days old. Nothing to recommend if they like being swaddled! Clothing wise though, if you search 'dressing baby for bedtime' for example, there'll be lots of simple images that state what's safe for baby to wear at whatever temperature it is in the room they sleep in. Good luck!
@mycahray8693 жыл бұрын
Hey! I was so worried about bedtime with my newborn. Our nighttime routine: hatch sound machine, diaper change, soft bamboo Kyte zip footie pajamas, halo swaddle, breast milk (sometimes I give bottle from pumping so I can make sure he gets 4/5oz before falling asleep!), burping, lay him in bassinet drowsy with just a pacifier. 🥰 Follows safe sleep guidelines and I’ve been getting 5 hour sleep stretches since he was around 4 weeks! :)

the thing that would put me off using a travel crib as a next to-me-crib is that the side doesn't come down so I'd have to lift the baby out every time they fussed, whereas I figure if I can put the side down I can just place my hand onto them and sooth, and I could also just scoot them over a bit when they need a feed. but then is this worth £150/200?
@elizabethcook59223 жыл бұрын
From ample experience, if you think they're fussing in a way that all you need to do is place your hand and they will go to sleep, then you just need to give them two to five minutes without you doing anything, if they keep fussing, they probably need nursing or changing or something is bothering, but normally, they will just go to sleep on their own. If you try to calm them down every single time they fuss, you're training them to need you just to put themselves to sleep instead of doing it on their own. You will regret this down the road. 🤪 A travel cot is the best option, in my opinion. ☺️ It takes away the temptation of putting your hand on them just to soothe, and they learn to put themselves back to sleep on their own when nothing is the matter. Good luck! 🤗

Not a mum or anything, but isn’t it against guidelines to use a travel crib long-term, like you would a next-to-me crib? Something to do with the travel cot mattress not being as good for baby’s back, and that it should only be for a few days at a time ( if on holiday, staying at friends’ or relatives’ place for a night….)
@elizabethcook59223 жыл бұрын
@@louisacoote2337 Hadn't heard about a travel cot's mattress not being the best for them. 🤷♀️ I've never used one as a long term option for before they sleep in their own cribs but I was tempted to with out next baby coming. Will have to research more, I guess. What I was trying to address is the fact that moms feel like they need to soothe every single time a newborn makes a noise, and that just trains them to need you to soothe instead of self-soothe and put themselves to sleep, which eventually leads to them sleeping through the night and being able to move on to their own room and crib. That's what we did with our first and she slept through the night before two months and was in her own room and crib. We plan to do the same for our second. ☺️ Hope it helps someone else out there!

A stupid question... Is the Travel Cot Mattress comfortable/suitable for the baby to be sleeping all the time? As I assume The Next to me Crib is designed to do this. After seeing your video I'm considering to buy the travel cot and use it as a next to me crib as well as cot.

Hey Shan! Thinking of buying the Graco car seat. Baby is 1 now - what age does the seat go up to?? One big comment people say in the reviews is that the straps keep twisting & that's why you shouldn't buy it. Have you had a problem with that? Would you still recommend at 1+? Xx

We LOVE the mama's and papas activity chair thing, gives me some time to get things done since my son is so happy in it! We also bought the gro blind recently and we mainly use it to create a dark room to put all of his sensory lights in 😂 but it's AMAZING!! And yes to a carrier! I'm more of a Tula explore gal 😂 but any sturdy carrier is a must have!!! Love the video 🥰

Hi Shan, thanks for the informative video you putting out. it been very helpful for a soon to be new dad. i have a question for you. my wife and myself leave a small one bedroom flat in center of London. Due to the limited space we have, we trying our best to buy stuff that very essential and have different uses(we don't want to clog our house with a lot stuff. we plan to buy doona car seat/bugger. Doona could only be used up to 6 months or 1 year at the most, could you please recommend a bugger and car seat that will not take a lot space in our home? we don't drive, so the car has be inside our flat all the time.

Hey Shan, Thank you for the helpful video. I was researching the babyzen yoyo, however I am not sure about it yet... Did you have other stroller or used only the babyzen? Is it a good option for an only stroller or is it better some stroller that is more complete? Thank you :)
