In 1983, K20 trucks were basically just 8 lug K10's. 10 bolt front axle with 8 lug outers and semi-floater rear axle. The frame is the same as a K10. The K30's were much beefier trucks, Dana 60 front, Corporate 14 bolt full-floater rear, thicker/taller frame. When I think "holy grail" Squarebody, I think about the 1991 V3500 4x4 with the 4L80E. Last year of the Squarebody and only year GM put the 4L80E/NP205 combo.

I found an original no rust 8600# 3/4 c20 in Colorado about 12 years ago. Not as nice as that one, a basic custom deluxe. It was a one owner used as a camping truck. Still, no rust and plenty of chalk marks. Never hacked on, no wire splices never abused and maintained with factory parts. Still one of the best longest lasting easily worked on trucks ever made.

You definitely have a beautiful Square body. I have a pretty unique Square body. I bought back in 2009 from the original owner a 1985 GMC SIERRA 3500 1 ton 4X4 long bed regular cab with the 454 turbo 400 Dana 60 with 70k original miles. It’s a factory brown truck (Fall Guy truck) with the gold side painted to look like the Fall Guy truck. It has the original tan interior. It has all the correct Fall Guy accessories. It was special ordered by a Vietnam vet and he garaged it. He kept a little book with all the oil changes , parts replaced from day one. I will never sell it. My daughter will inherit it. I have loved these trucks all my life and Happy to see guys like you preserving and keeping these special trucks on the road for future generations to enjoy 👍👍👍

When it comes to "holy grail" square bodies mine might be it. I have a rust free square body that spent it's whole life in hot dry Las Vegas. The last 20-years of it's life it has been sitting inside my shop out of the hot sun. It is a 1991 Silverado V3500 (square body) Crew Cab. It came from the factory with 454/4L80E/NP205/Dana-60 front axle/Corp 14-Bolt rear axle. The thing that makes these 1991 square bodies rare was it is the only year a 1-ton square body came with an overdrive (4L80E) transmission.
@DavisOffRoad12 сағат бұрын
You are correct we have only had one of those trucks over the years past and that saying something because we have had just about every combination you can imagine fathomable but you are correct. The term should’ve been used survivor with this one because it is for its single gap along bed three-quarter ton specimen that has actually been driven and used one of the best survivors check out video two uploading now.

Was that truck on the I295 bypass around Richmond on a flatbed Monday of this week? I saw a truck just like that with a roll bar in it on a flat bed in the bypass Monday morning as I was driving back home to Florida from Maryland. I was thinking 🤔 to myself, I wonder if that’s headed to Davis…Lolol. I am gonna take the extra time one my visits to Maryland from Florida to stop by your shop and check these square bodies out in person. I’ve commented many times on your posts. Love them square bodies. Own a 1989 K-5 Blazer. Third owner since February 2003. Y’all stay safe and be blessed 👍✔️🙌🙏

Between college and working on elevators I sold Chevys in Ohio and later n Texas . In 84 my best friend from child hood and I worked in elevator construction .. he asked me for my advice on ordering a truck. We ordered a 3/4 ton white Chevy scottsdale package running lights on top . He kept that thing waxed and even waxed inside the bed, . He didn’t use it for work just to get to work.,,, he ended up selling it to his brother 10 years later who lived in the Ohio rustbelt. When I married and we had our first child - we ordered a 1989 3/4 suburban (last square body sub) with the running lights on top , and I installed black running boards with lights built in it ( it was a thing back then) . That chevy sure was pretty at dusk! Had the barn doors also . Both my friend and I had the dog dish hubcaps on those large 16 inch wheels ( 16” was huge then ) . I wanted something that other drivers would be aware of ; would not tend to run into , for my wife n kids. We owned three suburbans through the years ,and with the kids gone… we downsize to a Tahoe for my wife. I had company vehicles, but in retirement now a full size later model Silverado. With those suburbans and with all my full-size trucks, we always had the three across seats .. the later trucks most folks got those center consoles… I don’t understand it.. same thing with the barn doors we always got the barn doors when possible. My three girls I kept supplying them with silverado short beds in high school and college. One ‘03 pick up we bought with 130,000 miles on and we sold it 14 years later with 380,000. All of those shortys were w/t v8… plain Jane with rubber flors n windup windows 99 to 06. For safety I kept 400 pounds of elevator counter weight steel bolted in back of the cab in the bed. And got into buying new Chevrolet wheels and tires takeoffs and flipping them after 8000 miles.. I had a good wheel source thankfully , and I did that for over 10 years. OFTEN BUYING 4 sets at a time ( yes 4 sets fit in a short bed) Luckily, I had that system where I would run them and then sell them for what I paid for them . Those girls never scraped a wheel.( no curbing) .. and they kept those old trucks waxed. Oh yeah we always bought white trucks. And kept a windshield reflector in it . Always tinted sides n back glass , for Georgia heat and security for my kids.

1991 model year was the last Squarebody Suburban. I had a 91 Suburban V2500 3/4 ton, 5.7L 350, 4L80E/NP205, barn doors in the back. 1991 was the only model year Squarebody that GM put the 4L80E transmission in. I've owned dozens of Squarebody trucks. Mostly K30, V30, V3500, K3500 1 ton 4x4 trucks. I've also been in the elevator trade for 20 years, IUEC Local 8 💪🏻🇺🇸
