Owned many a trucks prior to this Sierra EV. Diesels, big V8, supercharged, Turbo, etc. The Sierra EV is an awesome all around truck. The big battery eliminated my range concerns. Now I have a truck capable of doing most truck things, with the comfort and ride of some of the top luxury cars. I think it's one of the only no compromise vehicles out there. Work truck during the day, luxury cruiser by night, family hauler for road trips. Plenty of acceleration if you need to push this massive beast at sports car speeds. It pulls like my Powerstroke did, without the lag, when you punch it. GM built a great truck here.

Having a panoramic sunroof and no sunshade is a war crime. Especially in expensive vehicles like this.

As a dad, going to agree. My next vehicle was supposed to have a panoramic roof but the second we found out my wife was pregnant again I tossed that right out. Hardee to maintain cabin temperature and also harder to shield sleeping babies from noon sun.

see, if car makers would put the kind of photochromic glass that go into airliners, like the 787 dreamliner, into panoramic glass roofs, i could live without a sunshade. cause airplane photochromic windows get more than dark enough to sleep, and i'd trust that to last longer than the moving parts of a retractable shade. but last time i saw a photochromic roof in a car, was the venza, and i don't recall that glass going dark, just opaque.

You'll have to wait till range extender plus come out I guess, the only down side to Sierra 440 Mile range is that the battery is indeed massive, if you use it all up in one day, charging it up at night for 10 hours will only get it 115kw which is enough for the cyber truck but its about half for the Sierra, once range extender plus come out then you should be able to charge it up faster and have about or more range then the Sierra
@TAWithiam
@TAWithiam Ай бұрын
@@ParvTubeHD it has 19kw AC charging so you could actually just about fill it up from flat in 10 hours. 'course that requires you to install a 100A breaker (to meet the 80% NEC rule for continuous loads, since it's 80A charging) but that's not unreasonable if you already are spending on something like this

I'm seeing ICE Denali starting at $82,620 and going all the way to $109,410. So this one at $92k not needing the extra cost of gas to run and all those extras such as running all your power tools off site from it, the ability to back up your house during a power outage with no need for a loud and smelly generator plus the extra cost of gas to run it etc. seems to be a deal. And if you have solar, you can charge it for free. People have to stop thinking of these EV trucks as just trucks. You guys need to get off your horse and buggies and come over to the modern world.

"It's a very useful truck", Oh did we mention it is an EV? As it should be. It should just be considered a truck, with some very cool features. Very nice. Going to be fun when the prices come down to something most of us can afford. It is nice, more choices, more options. GM is stepping up. Looks great. Thanks for the video. I don't really comprehend why ppl who Vehemently HATE anything EV. Would watch a channel dedicated to EV. Like What The Actual F? I hate Walmart. Guess what I never shop there. It's Real easy😂 - All that aside, I love this! I have the Cadillac IQ luxury 2 in Black Cherry pre-ordered. Can hardly wait to receive it. "Love" how all the EV haters r like 50-100 miles for towing. When you all at TFL showed it towing. I seem to remember 240 miles. Where as a Ford F350 even with a 48 gallon tank towing would be nearly the same. EXCEPT it's very expensive fuel(normally & Trust it will be soon)plus diesels expensive maintenance costs. EV's are cheaper to maintain. Considerably I reside most in muriKa. And 1/4 of the year in Colorady. The vast majority Big Foot esq 😂Lifted Ford, GM, Ram. NEVER TOW/HAUL let alone experience "offroading" except whole paychecks speed bump. Like really. When I owned 3/4 Suburbans & the 6 pack dually. It wasn't to look "cute" or "masc/Butch" I had them bc I needed legit towing power. & I knew what the cost of fuel was, particularly in San Francisco proper, Even then! At today's cheap price of 3.32 pg on a 48g tank 159 & change. & if towing anything? That's a Thirsty ride. Where as my 2 EV's currently run about 48-60 for complete charge. IF not charging at "home". For significantly more range albeit a sedan & luxoboat convertible. - idk 1)why watch an ev channel IF you hate ev anything? 2) GM's products as far as EV'S are concerned are Superior to their competitors. & their Sales figures even show that. Ram is sinking & Ford is right behind them. Whose excelling though GM Buddy! ❤. Tho I love GM? I'd never buy a 1983 Chevy Chevette. Guess what? I don't watch any vids about Chevettes either. Easy Peasy. - Loved the video

I don't get why people need to come to the channel Named 'TFL EV' to watch something they're not interested in or believe against. It seems like a total waste of time. Reading through just a dozen of these comments, most are against EVs. It seems like most people who comment, either don't understand the engineering and technical side of EVs and their specific use cases, scared of new or different things, or just enjoy the feeling of complaining. No EV trucks currently on the market are meant to compete with the HD gas/diesel trucks yet. Those are purpose designed trucks made for towing heavy loads with large fuel tanks meant for work. EV pickups are great for the 90% of half ton pickup uses, like going to work and the trip to the hardware store where having a box is necessary. Having over 400 miles of electric range is fantastic and will only get better in the future. Ford and Ram don't have a dedicated EV platform which seems to be a reason they can't compete with GM for battery pack size and efficiency. I'm glad there's some people who get what EVs are about!

Not sure using a truck for serious towing or cargo carrying/delivery is a great idea with NO spare tire. When I tow my travel trailer I have a spare for both truck and trailer b/c getting a flat can end a days travel if I can’t change to the spare tire. 24 inch alloy wheels seems like a nod only to appearance. So GMC’s version of the EV truck is more a family hauler or cruiser than doing even vacation towing, I guess.

@AHungryHunky
@AHungryHunky Ай бұрын
@Slane583 That is the exact reason every truck commercial has those asterisks. It "can" do this. If you option it as a base model, 2WD. But they play a little psychological switcheroo by constantly showing the top trim and offroad trim while talking about the base model capabilities. The OG Ford Raptor had only a 1000lbs payload, for example. It's gotten better, of course, over the generations, but my GMC Acadia is currently rated for about 1500 lbs. Think about that, a turbo 4banger in a crossover can do more than a 1st gen Raptor. I know the Raptor is an extreme example, but it's still a full-size truck.
@Slane583

@@AHungryHunky The pricier off-road models were always known for their lack of payload ability. What they lack in payload they make up for in off-road capability. My previous 2004 Silverado Z71 was only capable of hauling 1,000lbs if you were lucky. It had very soft leaf springs so it sagged with any kind of decent weight in it. My current 2020 Silverado Custom is far more capable for hauling and it only has the Turbo-4 in it. The door sticker says not to exceed 1,939lbs combined weight of payload and passenger. So even with me, another person and my tool box in the bed I was able to haul 1,260lbs of bagged mulch with no problems. Of course I don't want to do that too often but I can if I have to. If I was to take the tool box off I could haul more and not worry about it.

I just feel like we lose a little bit of practicality for the price. Not having a spare tire for one is not great. I can obviously add one but I feel like I give up a lot. Inside storage also because I like to put a lot under the seat bed “blanket, jacket, tool pack, etc. Even then…the price is just rough to get into the market right now.

With the EV truck, there's no engine in the front end, so you get a huge front trunk, or frunk. Carry a spare tire, jacket, first aid kit, blanket, sleeping bag, fire extinguisher, small shovel, tools and more in there. Or place a spare tire, mounted upright in the bed. Tire plug kits and a small air compressor are good to have in any vehicle. Learn how to use them, with or without a spare tire.

@darpompie4354
@darpompie4354 Ай бұрын
Yeah... I checked it out and thought the Denali was the one but ended up with a Platinum lightning instead. Got it for 80k Canadian. 50% less than the Denali. I don't drive more than 100km a day so the bigger, heavier battery was actually a negative for me. The fixed glass roof as opposed to the lightnings openable one with retractable shade was also a turn off. And then there was no CarPlay where both me and the wife said no way. I also don't get the midgate. At first I was all for it but what happens if you need to brake fast when hauling stuff. Won't everything fly into the drivers and passengers area?

@darpompie4354

@@BZ1340 The lumber transport was exactly what I was thinking but while I was deciding, I just happened to be hauling lumber in my previous truck and had to slam on to the brakes, even though I had things strapped down solid, there was a loud boom from the lumber hitting the box of the truck. I instantly thought, what would have happen if I was in the Denali with the midgate open? Or what happens if I am carrying a bunch of boxes or loose stuff like a shovel in there as well? After that, the midgate started to lose its appeal to me. So there really wasn't anything to justify paying 45k over a top of the line lightning which had the stuff that I did want (car play, nicer glass roof, bigger frunk, under back seat storage, actual buttons for lights, etc..). Like I said, I went in pretty confident that I was getting a Denali but it was a no brainer going with the lightning (for me). If you do end up getting a Denali, just be very aware to tie everything down when that midgate is open.

Love these truck man but I dont know who realistically can afford a 100k truck. The smaller battery being “cheaper” isn’t really CHEAPER if you can afford a 91k truck u can afford a 100k truck because taxes gone bring u to 110k at signing. I dont care what nobody says taxes need to always be included on window stickers. who ‘s the target audience? I make a lil over 100k with a very secured job n like Most younger folks really wanna adapt that EV truck wave but it’s about 20-30k overpriced. Unless it holds 70% of value for 10 years which we know ain’t true I don’t see it being ever really the hit it’s meant to be. Great videos those love the channel tho.

Would love if GMC would make a truck like the Ram charger this would be ideal. A 150 miles all Evie with a backup generator that could make it go up to close 2 700 miles. This technology is not old to GM as GM made a 2011 through 2019 chevy Volt with approximately 53 plus miles all EV prior to the backup generator kicking on. Which is the range extender. I have said for years this technology would be awesome and it would be a massively huge cell for GM to produce this type of a truck. Unfortunately Ram got the jump on GM and Ram is putting this truck out first Even though it is g m's technology

But as an EV. 👎🏻

For one, there would be more to it than that. It would likely have to redo all crash safety testing. This would likely add millions to development cost, and, as we all know, EVs already have massive development cost. Most manufacturers, other than Tesla , are not, yet, making any profit on EV.
