The Jeep being rescued really can't cope with this terrain... which is why it got into trouble in the first place..... and Rudy is driving it.....and is attached by a long rope... Matt's not a really happy chappie in the Morrvair.... concerned about the steepness and the high gear ratio in the transfer case... plus the space for both vehicles to turn around at the top..... Perfectly rational emotions.........

Another note, years ago I was in Marine SAR and have seen the look on faces when folks figured they were going to die. The look on Matts face was pretty damn close, he justifiably concerned.

So the first section of that road is a 400ft rise in ~500 ft, which is ~38.7°. The point where he got stuck to the top is a ~500 ft rise over 400ft run, which is ~51.3° angle. Source, utah geological survey maps for elevation and scaling. Then run rise over run for grade, then inverse tangent for percentage. Easily could tell how sketch it was due to Matt's face.

Yes, glad Matt had Rudy get into that Jeep, but do think that if Matt had asked Lizzie to do so, she would have without complaint or argument. She knows that Matt knows her capabilities and wouldn`t ask her to do anything she wasn`t ready for.

@Crus Harold Yes I`m aware she is new to the recovery job, and Matt would never put her in ANY situation that she was not ready for, and Lizzie knows that.and if Matt had asked Lizzie to do so, she would have without complaint or argument. She knows that Matt knows her capabilities and wouldn`t ask her to do anything she wasn`t ready for. But there does come a time when the lead pilot says to the one being trained, --OK! You take it. Right.
