This family was out enjoying a drive through the woods while on vacation in central Oregon when they took a turn a little too tight and high centered on a rock. I used my @harborfreight jack with the @911Motorsports jack extension kit to lift the vehicle off the rocks and place blocks under it, then hooked up to it with my @YankumRopes gear to pull it backwards off the rock.

For everyone asking about the jack.. It's a Harbor Freight aluminum jack with a 911 Motorsports jack extension kit. Links to both of their pages are in the description of this and all my videos. Both very good tools that I highly recommend

I bought one of their 3 ton low profile jacks years ago... it stays in my pickup with the spare at all times. It's seen a lot more sand, mud, and gravel than pavement; still works beautifully! Good equipment and common sense are indispensable. :3

YEP, I have to get one of those jack and extension set ups for my work van. I tried changing the flat last week and couldn't even get my old crank jack to lift the van with my tools. That was a day wasted. until my son showed up with the pump jack from the workshed. ( And beer,. Love that lad.)

IMO, charge them if it's obvious that they can afford it (say if they're driving a G-wagon) and put that money towards helping out someone who obviously can't afford the bill. Tell them donations are accepted but not requested. I never pass up money that doesn't mean much to the person paying. You also dont want to distort the market price too much for the other recovery businesses that don't get YT money.

I didn't know Matt wasn't charging people who were on video. The last video I watched of his, was titled "what do we charge?", the video was clickbait, they didn't want to say how much because it varied. That he's doing some tows for free makes me want to give him another chance. That's respectable.

@@MF-rw3rb I don't believe Matt tows everyone for free, but I've certainly seen him do quite a few free recoveries. 👍 He and his subscribers have also done a fair amount of charitable fundraising for his community. @@MF-rw3rb he doesn’t give everyone a free tow but he does quite a few of them, I think it’s great when they do a lot of charity work, he does mostly free jobs when he’s out and completes the tow he was sent to do he then travels around pulling people out of the sand free of charge and he still gives them a tee shirt. So I guess he’s not doing every tow for free.

I stopped watching Matt’s videos because of all the click baiting and setups. “WE ALMOST DIED!” when in reality nothing happened, that and all the posed thumbnails. I know crazy thumbnails get more views but it’s insulting. The last straw for me was the lady that got her car stuck way out on a desert trail. Matt had to drive it out by repeatedly stacking and moving rocks etc. We’re talking driving over BOULDERS. I posted a comment and asked why he didn’t just drive it out the way she drove in, because it was obvious she couldn’t have ever made it up this trail. Matt posted a reply and said “This is the way she drove in, there was no other way out.” Come on, man. Even if she ignored the extreme scraping and bouncing, she would have had to stack rocks to get in there. You realize these guys that have a lot of subscribers and views make more from KZbin than from their original job, right? Sparks just bought a new Blackhawk helicopter, that should tell you something. LOL I don’t know how you work that into a vehicle recovery but more power to him. Basically that channel is now about a rich guy that buys toys with KZbin money and you get to watch.
@MF-rw3rb
@MF-rw3rb Жыл бұрын
@@jakester455 the clickbait also bothered me, but remember, they're a business. And it's not like we're paying to watch each video, we just have to spare some time and watch a few ads. I specifically remember the prius video you mentioned, seems like the lady should have turned around and went back the other way she came. But for me, it was the clickbait stuff and gimmicky thumbnails.

Thanks for your service to these folks. I could only imagine how something like this could ruin somebodies family vacation. I too have ventured off the beaten path & have found myself in trouble. To get a wrecking crew in there would be very costly, & just ruin any day for anyone. Thank God the Jeep driver stopped when he did instead of lunging forward off the rock & destroying the undercarriage of the Jeep. That would have been so costly to repair. By lifting the Jeep & bracing the wheel height, you were able to get the ground clearance on the rock to drive off backwards & avoid any costly damage. Great recovery & it was made even better when the Jeep owner found out you did your good deed for nothing. He had so much praise for your subscribers. Thanks Casey, your actually bringing home the family values of love & helping out your fellow man.

I have to say thank you as well. I am one of those guys who have been out camping and went to turn around and put my wheel in the wrong spot, and there I stay. Stuck. With no help. The family is a good two-hour walk to the campsite. So people thank you for your support. In making this guy's rescue possible. I don't remember how many (a lot) of people I have helped while out fishing or just camping. I have acquired some skills and some tools in my years of enjoying the great outdoors. But please tell us how was it that this guy was lucky enough to get your assistance.

Subscribed and liked because you got the youngen to smile. Don’t know if he’s still a teen or young twenties but that made my day. Respectful young man you have. The fact you did what you did, and taught this young man how to respect the earlier generation by example first hand, kudos to you. Keep it up. Thanks for doing it. Thanks for sharing and inspiring others to follow that lead!

Nicely done, Casey! As someone who's pulled a lot of vehicles out with my Jeep (for free), I can understand the satisfaction it gives you to help folks out like this. The fact that you can get some reimbursement for your expenses adds icing to the cake. I'm happy to help support that by liking all your videos and subscribing to your channel. 👍

Very SMOOOOOTH rescue and a very generous gesture to the customer. Nice quality video especially in the rain. Glad you didn't get too much water down your back and parts south. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. It gives us a good example of how we all should be.

Thanks for sharing Casey. We'll keep watching the off-road rescues - and the occasional on-road as well. Me a few years ago: Off-road recovery on KZbin? sure, sounds interesting. Me now: must watch more off-road recoveries. I like to learn, today's video winching to keep from kicking out the rocks - fantastic!

I thought that's what you were going to do. You are such a giving person. Between your no fee towing and what you (WE) did for the veteran in need has been so great to see. Keep it up and when I get over the mountain to Bend I will give you and Ben a shout out.
