Its sad how people think goths are depressed, evil, devil worshipers, and a fetish. I'm currently 16 learning about the subculture and my family started to see me war more black and started complaining about it until I told them what it really is. They thought goths do the things I listed about how people see and think goth is. Now that my family is educated on it and took the time to learn about it. They help me get people to understand goth more.

This was filmed in 1997, mostly at a convention called Dracula Con'97 At that time vampires were hugely popular within the Goth scene, sort of like how vampires were for the mainstream a few years ago with Twilight, True Blood, & The Vampire Diaries, only back in 1997 with Goths it was Bram Stoker's Dracula, & Interview With The Vampire. So to answer your question, looking like a vampire was very popular for Goths in 1997, especially at the DracCon :p .

i was participating in goth going to clubs, etc. in the 90's there were tons of people who really went all out on the look much like the folks in this vid. i still participate in it, enjoy it, etc. but fer the most part the number of peoples at the clubs who go all out with the look are very small in number. nowadays here in L.A. people really dress down and alot just simply throw on basic black clothing and that's as far into the look as they go. that's fine thangs change but i gotta say i do miss the times where peoples went all out. like the peoples in this vid. they all look awesome.

haha true and im from the early 2000s and i went to a goth nite in my city and i been watching 1997 gothic videos or early 90s as well here on KZbin and i see how much things have changed :( its a shame i understand now days ppl get shamed so much on dressing how they want. and ik most goths now days well the younger ones like myself are too shy to go all out and i apologize so much how its been in these modern days. watching these videos gives me courage and hopefully others as well to keep the old cool gothic looks going ! I wished i was from those days to see the creativeness! but im glad to be born at my time to yk try to help bring it back :)
