Ive had the same type of saw for 28 years and only thing to replace was the bearings that the blade runs on and now I am fitting a cooling system with a large tray to catch the swaff and coolant. Worth every penny I paid for it.

I heard the worm gear tends to wear down after some time especially if you don`t change the oil over the years. The bearings and the V-belt will be replaced over the years but i didn`t count them as "broken" parts. It`s normal. I was thinking of adding a cooling system but for now i don`t need it. The blade stays rather cool even while doing stainless with the fastest speed. A tray for the swaff is definitely on my to do list.

Thanks. This machine seems pretty common in hobby workshops. It is sold under different brands but the main components are the same. Great value for the money you spent and with a few upgrates you can customize it to your needs. The only downside is the cutting speed and the durability over the long run. If i needed a bandsaw for my buisness to make money than i would bought a better and faster one. As a hobbiest with a limited budget this works pretty well.

@@TheeGrandmaster Hi. I have done nothing special. Just getting the tension right and align the blade. It took me a few tries to cut exactly at 90 degrees but thats all i have done.

i have one more idea , seen a trick to prevent the metalparticles from being drawn through the length of the cut by the blade when you cut wide pieces of flat steel you clamp it in at an angle by putting a rod under one side so the saw cut the flat bar at an angle , while this works theres the risk that the part with work itself loose from the flat and smooth jaw faces , my idea was to make a v groove about halfway up the clamp from one end to the other to put the edge of the flat bar in so you can clamp it down without the piece slipping out
@markkoons7488

Why did you make a longer jaw face for only the traveling jaw? I there some reason not to make the jaw shoes 25-40 mm taller than the jaw castings? I envision clamping thin rectangles at a diagonal to reduce the number of teeth in the cut. I like your work and video very much. Thank you.
@basementprojects4712
@basementprojects4712 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. I made the jaw longer to attach the threaded rod at the end. This helps kepping the jaws parallel when clamping short parts. You could make the jaws taler but i saw no need for that when i modified my saw. It will only increase the leaver. Clamping at a diagonal is an option and i saw it a few times already. I have never tried it so no experience from my side. In most cases i use thicker material so no idea if this will benefit my work. Thanks for the compliment.

I can't fit the longer piece at 45 degrees, it gets in the way about 2 millimeters from the saw holder. Do you have these problems?

like the fact that the bandsaw can bet set up vertically , most of the ones available dont have that feature in europe nice mods

Thanks. To cut things in the verticall position was the main reason for buying the saw. Sometimes you just need this feature and i don't wanted to buy two saws.

I have the same bandsaw but I can't get it to make straight cuts, The blade guide bearing holder is of aluminium and the threads are pulled, The whole adjuster for the guide bearings is pathetic. Going to make up a decent one with allen head studs to push against the carrier.

Cooling system could be not bad
@basementprojects4712
@basementprojects4712 3 жыл бұрын
I thougt about that and made a test. I set the saw on the highest speed und cut a thick bar of stainless steel. After the cut the blade was cool enough to touch. Right now i don't see a reason for a cooling system. Maybe when i modify the saw for higher speeds but not right now.
