I'm mightily impressed with how many parts you have saved and reconditioned. It's easy to just throw away and replace, but there is a beauty in using the parts the car came with. Not to mention I think the subtle mods you have made are perfect to showcase your great work so far.

Johan Pedersen it’s a lot cheaper I did the same for my Datsun
@johan21mp
@johan21mp 5 жыл бұрын
Cheaper, but far more labour intensive. New pattern panels is an easy way to make your build easier, but it's also unoriginal parts, to me if a part is salvageable it should be, so long as one is capable. Jeff definitely is capable.

Hi Jeff, I'm not sure if I've already seen that you do this, but in my experience it is super helpful to do a thinned epoxy primer sealer as the final coat of primer. Its another added layer of protection against rust.

I think you should rename your channel here is some ideas " sanding by jeff" , "Body preping by jeff". Enougth jokes very good work both in mecanic/bodywork and filming/montage, you deserve so more viewer and for sure you you will have them.

Are you going to finish or seal those edges on the cut fenders? Curious to see how you keep dirt and moisture out. Also curious to know if the panel firms up with the flares bolted on, while sanding you can see the front fender really bend against pressure. Love the show format with Ms Jeff trivia at the end. I'm also glad you show all of the sanding as its a realistic representation of what kind of effort a good job takes.

I will put some seam sealer on the rear, but not on the front. Once the guards are bolted to the car, and the flares bolted on, they are pretty solid.

You make me ashamed, When I put new seats into my Z, I took the old seats, and put them into my Tacoma, but yet to actually bolt em down, but hey its only been 2 years, makes it easy to clean. Take em out, vacuum throw them back in. Dont paint till your darn good and ready.

Jeff, I've watched a lot of your videos, for the 240Z and the 911. Have you ever thought to finish all your fabrication and welding before painting the body? Just a thought.

Great job, Jeff! One question: why don't you use an orbital/rotary like sander for sanding? Is it faster this way?
@HomeBuiltByJeff
@HomeBuiltByJeff 5 жыл бұрын
It is, but it is easy to get waves. I may use an orbital in other areas, but large areas you need to be careful to block it out with a long block.

Is that another little hole in the tail light recess at about 5 o'clock ? 10:44 If it is it's not supposed to be there also . Looks like someone used the old style slide hammer dent puller on it many moons ago.

There is a matching hole in the exact same place on the other side though? Have a look at 6:39
@gregh7457
@gregh7457 5 жыл бұрын
Did the plastic trim pieces have a screw or screw hole that matches those holes? I'm thinking they tried fixing some warping in the plastic by screwing them down. Those shouldn't be there. Take a look at this. There are 2 pictures of the rear panels on this page and there are no screw holes. www.hangoverture.com/73240.htm You don't want water getting in there to rust out your quarter panels.

The 911 is orange and purple, the beetle blue (that looks a bit green.) I think he saves red for the Alfa. Enough colours... Maybe this car will be grey? Should be a metallic!
