It's refreshing to get back to rust repair. Always fascinating to see the rust slowly being eradicated. Great to see an old truck getting a new lease of life.

YES!!! As soon as i saw that truck I thought that it would be a shame to get rid of all that lovely patina. So happy you're going to retain that patinated look. Hat's off. Again!

The Japanese have a wonderful philosophy of "Kintsugi". It emphasizes the repair, celebrating the repair and continued life of an object. Please don't hide any of the repairs on the outside. Take pride in the repair work achieved, the beauty of transformation and continued life. 👍

Tip When you need shaped bits of steel sheet to repair rust you might find them in your local dollar store it the cooking and backing equipment isle. Cheap roasting pans muffin trays etc are often just perfect to cut up for a patch panel.

So happy to hear it will be a "patina" build. When I saw the truck I thought please don't make it nice and shiny. Love the design of trucks from that era. Great project! Best of luck!

Jeff, my Dad and I restored a '29 Dodge car which had a cowl vent similar to the one you have. It is surprising how effective the blast of air from them is. They are the most efficient way of getting bulk air flow into the vehicle without blowing your ear drums out with buffeting. Even in summer, the cooling effect is surprising. A lot of guys back then didn't bother with them and actually welded the vent lid I to the cowl so it was there for show, but never opened. I love watching you tackle the rust patches and your commentary makes it easy to understand and follow. Cheers, mate, see you next week

The cowl vent and the wing windows are a lifesaver in warm weather. The amount of air flow without being blown away is amazing. Definitely worth keeping. I have a 60 Impala with floor vents that work exactly like the cowl vent and even in hot Southern California summers (90+F) I don’t need AC as l am rolling.

Hey Jeff, not sure what your plans for an English wheel are but I reckon there's half a chance you'll home-build one. If so, maybe check out Quick Bikes - Simon (who unfortunately passed away last year but his channel is still going) built one and the design is super simple. I made this one and bought a cheap/small set of wheel/dollies to see how I went. I haven't used it much but it's a super handy tool, and I'll eventually buy the larger wheel and dollies (I made it to take the larger wheel if I went that way).

Good stuff Jeff, back down the rabbit hole again. Cool as that your doing a patina hauler. I used a rust converter on my van and was amazed at how much factory paint just appeared as the rust was killed off. Keen as to see this one come together.

Awesome Jeff. Love your talents, skills and determination. I grew up on a dairy farm in Canada and learned to drive on our 1952 Ford F100 farm truck. A local welder brazed in a couple fender patches and my brother and I painted it black with a brush and a roller. Painted the 6.50x16 wheels with silver rust paint we had laying around. Had a 239 flathead V8 with almost no muffler. Drove it to high school dances and to the beach whenever I could. Wonderful memories but I wish I had your skills. Nevertheless, it was great recalling events that are now 60 yrs old. I still ride a motorcycle and repair old bikes when I can. FYI, I watched your Grand Prix late last night. All the best.

Hi Jeff. Great video once again. I was pondering something the other day and you came up to mind since you have experience with both things on my mind.... Do you think that the Ferrari engine would fit the S30 chassis? I have a Z in the process of being Rb25 swapped, but an opportunity to buy the same Ferrari engine you put in the alfarrari came up and my gears started spooning... Please tell me it's impossible haha

I know you want to keep the exterior patina but it still may be wise to sandblast the interior, especially if you want it as nice as you say you do. Why don't you reach out to Kurtis at Cutting Edge Engineering to see if you could do a collab? He's got a sweet pressure washer setup that could help you and I don't think he's that far away from you.

The cowl vent, keep the opening as you need air inlet for the HVAC. Make a box with air intakes for the HVAC and flow thru in taken from the sides of this box. But have a plate protecting them so that water/bugs/dirt get blown down not in the cab or rain fills the cab if you drive in the rain. Like this [°\ ] Make the exit duct or tube small enough to get positive pressure for your vents/HVAC, but drain that volume of water if you are in a thunderstorm or car wash. The condenser drain can use the same exit
@fraserwright9482
@fraserwright9482 6 ай бұрын
You can still retain the flap to open up and the lever in the cab. But fit mesh. I would also change to electric wiper at the same time. The mechanism can pass behind the duct/box

An English Wheel for the roof? Really? Stretch the center out even more? I know that if you cut the center out you're already skilled enough to work the edges back to shape with a body hammer.
