Why light soya sauce when there's already enough dark sauce? Are they very different in flavor?
@HomeCookingwithSomjit5 жыл бұрын
Hi cupoftea31, both sauces are different in flavor, taste and texture. Dark soy sauce is thicker, sweeter and give out dark color for the noodles. Light soy sauce is likely saltier and has nice fragrance. Thanks for the comment.

Sorry this doesn’t look like the same Hokkien stir fried noodle you get from back home Malaysia. Onion, ginger, carrot, mushroom, chilli padi and oyster sauce is not part of KL hokkien noodle at all. You sound like adding bok choy, tofu, peanut butter and galangal in bolognese sauce and call it the original bolognese sauce from Bolognese. Ingredients is not right and cooking method is so so wrong. Sorry you DO NOT know how to cook Malaysia hokkien noodle. Take this video off from KZbin or rename this video. Call anything but not Hokkien Noodle.

Hi KC Lim, Thank you for the comment. Appreciate it.

I have tried following Somjit's Hokkien Mee receipe. It was so delicious and the noodles were smooth. Much tastier than the commercial ones I've had from KL! Her receipe does not contain msg or other food additives which causes mouth dryness with the thirsty feeling after consuming as experienced from the commercial food outlets. Why bother about the method of cooking when most important of all the taste is as good? As for the extra ingredients, if you are alert and sharp enough, Somjit has already replied earlier that it's up to the individual taste. Come off it!! This is her style of home cooking Hokkien Mee and she's kind enough to share with all who are interested. Why don't you visit all the eateries in KL selling Ipoh Chicken Rice, Singapore Fried Mee Hoon or Kajang Satay for that matter to witness, test and taste their food whether it tallies with the source of origin? You should Instruct the proprietor concerned to CLOSE SHOP should you find any that does not live up to your so called 'standards'. 😊

Hi Res Q, Thank you
@bonhamcarter44885 жыл бұрын
My my how rude can you be. The extra ingredients Somjit used goes well with Hokkien mee anyway. Doesn't change the original taste. And we do add chilli padi and garlic as a side to spice things up. If anything, we should be thanking her for showing what else goes well with this dish. Sigh...
@prettycatmint45145 жыл бұрын
@KC Lim The fat round yellow noodle is known as Hokkien noodle, just like the flat fat version. This recipe and tutorial are Somjit's way of cooking it for her family and I see a tasty home cooked dinner. No need to be so rude. Make your own video if you think you can do better. At least appreciate the time and effort she spent on preparing, cooking, editing and uploading the video for others to learn from and enjoy.
