I home carry. I don't know why people think they'd be able to get into their gun safe in time. There was a brutal home invasion murder a few years ago in CT, and the family was targeted because the wrong people got wind of their gun ownership. They were held at either knife point or gunpoint(don't remember, barely matters) and led TO their gunsafe to be robbed of their guns. The worst fate for them imaginable happened to them that day, despite owning guns. One of my worst fears is dying with a safe full of guns that didn't serve me in an emergency. So I home carry. At minimum I slip 2 holstered handguns in my pockets. Nothing wrong with it. I don't care if I look goofy, I'd rather be alive.

I remember that home invasion. It was terrible! 100% agreed, it's far better to have a weapon on you! I always have my body and access to something I can turn into a weapon, I usually have a 3"+ knife within arms reach, and a handgun within about 15 seconds. If I have time to retrieve anything from my safe, it's after I verify the family is safe for that moment.

@@rjg02005Thanks for the reply. Not to disregard your comments or lifestyle, but I personally don't really adhere to the idea of the 'weapons in every corner' type of setup. Knowing which home items can be used improvisationally is massively important....but having weapons on me is, in my mind, safest for everyone in the house. I do not have children....but if/when I do, I won't be changing much about my home defense setup, because I would worry about them finding those items and being children with them. I would then even go further and buy some level 3 holsters so that taking a nap on the couch doesn't lead to a rude awakening, if you catch my drift

@@geekofsteal I fully agree, and didn't mean to mislead with my comments or video. That corner of my basement is absolutely filled with dangerous things (and all the firearms are locked in a safe when I'm not present). I have young children and one of my biggest fears is something happening to them because of my negligence. I do have locations, one on each level of the house, that have firearms in locked dedicated safes. I agree: having it on you is immensely safer than what I've heard other people do, like hiding a firearm under a couch or next to a coat rack. For me, it's mostly down to physical comfort of not wanting something in my waistband when I'm lounging around.
