I own a similar unit, Whirlpool Freezer WVR986FDEM01, they freeze up about every six weeks, then your food thaws and ruins. These units are nothing but Junk, Buyer beware. I will soon test mine with a .50 Cal BMG.

I have had this one for a out a year .I totally agree with your assessment. I paid $2200.00 wish I had a different door design on one .Can't tell you how many times it did not close properly. Right now the ice maker says off and I cant figure out how to turn it back on.! Help

Remove the ice container out of the door look left to turn on the switch which is hidden by the container.

This refrigerator is loud (louder than my very old refrigerator) during regular operation and it's even louder when it's making ice. I don't understand how Whirlpool can design a refrigerator like this. Also, have customers lost their sense of quality?

I looked at all the Whirlpools with that control panel. Neither me nor the salesperson could easily get it to work. It took tremendous pressure on the buttons to get it to change, as in actually flexing the plastic and squeezing with thumb and finger. We went to 3 stores and they were all like that, and man was it hard to change the temp setting. Brand new fridges hard to work.

Lorena Figueroa wow I would suggest unplugging it for about 5 minutes then plug back in see if that resets it. if this doesn’t work maybe the sensor has gone out or some type of safety switch that malfunction may need to call for service.

Open the freezer and close firmly. If it is open a teeny bit it will cause the problem you have.

Adrian Esqiibel my original fridge was a 25 year old whirlpool the other I compare to was my sumsung which is back in its place my wife just didn’t like this one so we sold it to friends of ours we only had this for 3 weeks.

On the door where it has the thermostat symbol push and hold 3 seconds and it will unlock and display the temp then you can raise or lower the temp as desired then press and hold for 3 seconds when finished to lock again

I will never purchase another Whirlpool product. Whirlpool do not stand behind their warranties. I've been waiting for a repair of my refrigerator, condenser, and 4 other major parts since November 15, it's now December 17,2021. We couldn't have Thanksgiving dinner and now no Christmas dinner because the refrigerator is completely hot, food is moldy. Don't give them your money.
