Each time there is a pleasant surprise that is not expected. Indeed two surprises. Mom singing in choir and playing the bass at the same time. Julianne returning to her first instrument: the violin. And then everything else that is incredibly perfect! Solo voices of Ellen and Katie, the backing vocals also with Mamma and Matt. Solos for fiddles, dobro, banjo, guitar and bass !!! All seasoned with beautiful smiles that make everything seem easy…. But we know it's not easy at all! A performance of this level requires a lot of professionalism. Thank you, with all my ❤ for this wonderful Christmas that you are giving us. 🎄

I so enjoyed: Karen singing, Karen singing along side her mini-me Katie, dueling fiddles, harmonies, arrangement, entire song, AND the home video. It's amazing that in the that one moment of time we don't realize we should appreciate it, but when we look back, how oh so valuable it was and how we should have cherished it. Growing up I remember watching all of those Christmas specials starring the various families. My wife and I watched a couple of those this year from way back when, on you tube, and I have to say that you guys top them all! Why because with your family, it's all about he music! The jaw dropped several times on this one! 1st & foremost, "Get it" Mama singing so wonderful, who looks just stunning! 2nd, duh, Julianne on fiddle? Wha? Girl is growing up! (OK, I found the 2014 Rodeo link & now we see that the fiddle didn't just sprout up in 15 minutes. Still, jaw drop achieved) 3rd, Emmet literally was handed the stiffest competition to the prowess he consistently provides as lead instrumentalist for The Petersens. Finally, there was a 4th jaw drop. The extra video snippet saying bye to Grammaw..... Bravo (4 times) once again....!

I'd love to see the rehearsals for these harmonies, and instruments, coming together. They are so polished, but I know that doesn't just happen. I can only imagine the laughs ( and maybe frustrations?) that would arise in those early rehearsals! 😃

Yes, me too! I've been campaigning for a 'Making Of' or a 'Behind the scenes' video for these videos for a while now. I know they're very sympathetic to the idea but I don't know how far they are in producing one (if at all). It will probably also only be available to their Patreon community. At least initially. :)

Very nice work. I LOVED that last major major 7th chord in the vocal harmonies. Nice to hear the bass solo and the bassist chiming in on backing vocals as well... a trumpet break would have worked, too. Do any of the other guitarists play a bass guitar? That'd free up "Mumma" to play the ol' trumpet, maybe; just a thought. The pairing of the fiddles worked well also.
