Too funny. Tim was saying the other tenor retired. I think his name was Matt and he wanted to stay home and had a young child too, so they’ve had other singers come and go. Austin took Matt’s place (I think that was his name). Someone will take Austin’s place. I’m sure Peter Hollens would be great but he’s probably too busy. This is my favorite live taping of this beautiful song with Austin's fantastic voice. I love the backup vocals that they gave him. If you haven't done Austin singing this with Sébastien at his home, you really should. It's fantastic. Tim's dog Satchmo is such a mellow dog, and I love it when he brings him to their concerts and features him in their videos . Theres an English singer called Calum Scott who i think is maybe the type of singer Home Free might want, im not saying they should go for him, just think his voice is so good, He sang You Are The Reason, have you heard him? This particular video was a one-shot. They have done What We're Thinking While We're Singing several times -- a quick search brought up at least six recordings -- and since it's done live not every one is the same. On Chris's ChrisRuppOfficial YT channel there are 6 or 7 episodes of Home Free History/The History of Home Free where he sits down and talks about the history of the group with its members, starting with Matt Atwood. So very informative and interesting.

So just to put it out there, I have two teenaged boys, and both of them tried to eat dog food out of the dog bowl that was sitting on the floor when they were in the toddler phase. I was not impressed with the Milk Bone I tried as a kid. It wasn't bad, just bland, blah. You are right, Jeffrey is fantastic, but he is not the power tenor that Austin is. I love it when they fall apart on stage. Every time I see one of the videos of theme 'making' Austin sing BHH, I am touched because it had to have taken some effort to create and learn the background vocals just so they could show him off. And they are doing the same sort of tribute to him now during this last tour.

Thanks for your great reaction. This brought a smile to my face even though I’ve seen it several times. With respect to your comments about Jeffrey replacing Austin, I don’t really think it would be a good fit. I love Jeffrey’s voice and his songwriting is so so so good but he’s got his own style. He’s not a “power tenor”and I believe his range is lower than Austin…a good side by side comparison is during Oh Beautiful Star of Bethlehem where Jeffrey sings the first verse softly and Austin sings the second verse up an octave in full gospel style…different as night and day. Also Jeffrey comes across as quite shy and introverted (though his deadpan humor is killer!). Unless one of the other guys is going to fill in for Austin’s outgoing style during interviews and onstage, I don’t see Jeffrey filling that role either. Just my thoughts.
