The higher pristine ooo's when Chance was singing is actually Adam Rupp, he actually has a huge range as he sang that in his falsetto voice !
@josephchiasson47603 жыл бұрын
When Tim solos, Adam Chance sings bass. Their cover of the song Mayday shows off Tim’s upper range, and he was able to do it because Chance learned from Tim how to fill in his lower register and be able to hit some incredible bass notes. I think this is the first video they did that starred Tim’s upper range, but he is much more flexible now because of it. Chance is a baritone naturally, but Tim has helped him since he joined the group to be able to be flexible in his lower range as well (from what I’ve gathered from reading comments from others over the years)
@wendischambach61813 жыл бұрын
I just learned that when Adam Rupp does vocals, he does so in the tenor range. The initial 3 harmonies at the beginning (I think after watching a live performance) are Tim, then Rob and Adam Rupp. Then Chance jumps in but Austin doesn't appear until the second part/"chorus." In concert, I'm told that they often do this as an encore at their Christmas tour and they do it off mic to a pin-drop-silent theater. There is a reactor, Dennis, on King Family Reacts that interjected a clip of his personal cell phone video from a concert into the beginning of his review of this; it is difficult to do and was impressive to do at the end of a 90 minute set. Chance's voice has a smoky quality to it, like a whiskey dipped cigar. And the "chorus" is Austin; Adam Rupp rarely solos on vocals. I've been told there is at least one of their songs that you can hear him clearly but I don't remember which one it is. Sorry. Love your reactions. I always learn things from you and appreciate your breakdown plus your enjoyment of all things music-al is entertaining to watch. Happy New Year to you and yours!
@tarjaikola3 жыл бұрын
Adam Chance sang bass in his previous group, Street Corner Symphony, so he already had a full bass sound before joining Home Free. His highs have been very impessive as well. The first tenor singing I heard of Tim was in Do You Hear What I Hear (which is a fab take and brilliant arrangement).
@josephchiasson47603 жыл бұрын
@@tarjaikola I am not trying to discredit Chance, but from the comments I have seen over the years, he did receive some help and advice from Tim, allowing him to go sing fuller and lower. It could be too just with time, experience and practice, but that's what I've heard. He has an incredible vocal range, and has been an amazing addition to the group since Chris left. And yes, Do You Hear What I Hear is probably the first time Tim sings in his higher register for some time, but this was when Chris was still with the group, about the only song that he did sing in his higher register (significantly) while Chris was with them, and he still carried the baseline through the majority of the song, including his amazing growl notes. No one "took over" the bass to the level that he does in DYHWIH. However, in Mayday, Chance plays a significant role of bass that allowed Tim to sing much of the song in his higher register.
@josephchiasson47603 жыл бұрын
@@hex3639 but Tim did help him since he joined the group... that’s not the main reason he’s a good singer, but it is still true. Again, I am beyond impressed with Chance as a singer, and I think he was the perfect addition to the group!

You're a joy to watch. You can't hide your enthusiasm and the excitement. It's contagious.

Adam Rupp normally sings a very high tenor. You can hear it more in “How Great Thou Art.” He has openly said he doesn’t like to sing lead.

Rupp's degree is in trumpet performance, which helps explain both his beatboxing and his reluctance to sing lead.

Can't wait to hear Elizabeth react to some McGonagal! But Burns and Walter Scott between them paved the way for the Early Victorian invention of most of the Scottish history we know today. Bright guys.

Great reaction. If you watch other videos, you can tell when Tim sings tenor and when he's bass. When he's high, his chin is up. When he's low, his chin is low, and his hand goes down. Same with Chance. Easy to tell when they're live, who's singing what.

You are not the only one who would love to see them in concert! I'm sure that they are just as eager as we are to get their tour started again. Happy New Year!

You are correct, that is their producer Darren Rust, who is actually a member of his own acapella group called the Blenders. When Adam Rupp is actually singing harmony (he doesn't like singing solo) and not beatboxing, such as with this song and Angels We Have Heard On High his voice is actually in the tenor range between Austin and Rob. I think you'd love listening to their cover of How Great Thou Art (and Adam Rupp does have a slight solo in that song).

Dear Elizabeth , Adam Chance was a bass in the previous acapella group ; he often cover bass parts and his range , F#1 to A6 , is pretty amazing ( there is a video about it ) . Rob did sing lead , you can recognize his timbre :)

Elizabeth, once again a superb and deeply insightful reaction...Intuitively I sensed v. early with Home Free there was a well(s) of deep talent and artistry, but could never articulate the "why" I am v thankful for the wonderful way you teach and share your deep music knowledge along with your forthright enthusiastic appreciation of the performances and I LOVE the way you generously take care to credit the persons "behind the performers" as well....and I can't tell you how much I appreciate those little "Nooooooo! Don't be done!!!" moments you inject that make your reaction so personal and just FUN... thank you, and a most HAPPY NEW YEAR to you too for this inspired selection.
