I love Home Free stripped down to just their vocal talent...""Helplessly Hoping" is another example as well as "I Can't Outrun You"...anxious to hear the traditional Scottish version..

They seem to know when to keep it to the basics and when to play around with the arrangement.

I watched the other one first, then came back and watched this one. I love them both. I think I actually like this version even better, now, than I did before (and I loved it before). I'm not in any way saying that I like it better than the original version that was familiar to you, because that's not the case. That was so very, very lovely and poignant. While watching the Home Free version, though, I realized that they kept it very simple, yet were bold with the harmonies. They didn't sing it as a raucous song (as you might hear at many New Year's Eve parties), but it still came across as poignant and thoughtful. It made me even more proud of how they work hard to retain the original flavor of songs, yet give it their own feel. Thank you very much for sharing both versions. I really enjoyed that! :-)

Harmonies are beautiful here! Thx for introducing us to something new! I’m going to watch the traditional Scottish version now! :)

1- Thanks for the little history lesson on this song! I didn't know it has a deep Scottish tradition. 2- My wife's family, on her mothers side, is Scottish and are from the Bruce family lineage. 3- You mentioned what a nice voice Chance has. (the Baritone) There are several songs where he sings lead that are some of my favorites, including, "I can't Outrun You" and "Castle on the Hill".

Hearing that you are going through home Free's Christmas special, then you have to check out their "do you hear what I hear".. Adam actually did their version on that & it was so BEAUTIFUL 🙌

Wat got me into them was their version of "wagon wheel", wen I was originally into Darius Rucker and I saw them and gave it a try and I was blown to see how good they were and I couldn't help but restart it 4 times over and singing along to them, and that was back in mid 2017, and I've been a fan ever since, #HOMEFREE

Loved it, man, great reaction. I just checked out the other version and left a comment there about it. Here’s a little Home Free info for you. The gentleman at the soundboard is their producer, Darren Rust. Darren did the arrangement for this song, as well as the arrangement for How Great Thou Art. Home Free records at his studio, Skyland Studios, which is about 10 miles from my house. Darren had/has his own acapella group called The Blenders. They were kind of big in the late 80s and 90s. They won a couple of Emmy Awards. They still perform Christmas shows in Minneapolis, MN and Fargo, ND every year. I’ve seen them a few times and they are excellent as well. If you’re going to do Christmas series I suggest checking them out as well, maybe Hark, the Herald Angels Sing or We Three Kings. Both are excellent. The Traditional version was amazing and lovely. So different. But both versions have their own beauty. I have a special love for the male voices, (maybe from singing in choir with my dad).

It may just be my imagination but I swear sometimes during the harmonies, with the bass undertones, it hit my senses the same way a bagpipe does. And yes, I'll be watching the next version. And as always, looking for more Home Free from you. :)

Thank you, and Happy New Year! PLEASE DO try Pentatonix version. You will feel their passion in their voices, that make the lyrics more real. PTX sang a magnificent, meaningful take on this song. :) It helps all of us non-Scottish folks understand what the song means.

Here is a potential reaction for you Patrol Gaming! I was adopted at 3 days of age, and my history was a mystery...DNA testing has revealed strong British, Scottish and Irish roots for me, so I am not a real full blooded Scot. There is a worship band from Scotland that I just love deeply called Celtic Worship. Love the vocals and instrumentation and the strong Scottish accent of their lead singer Steph Macleaod. I know you do some reactions to Sacred music from time to time, seeing if you know these guys. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpzZd6eOpc2gg7c Huge Home Free fan here, and I also listened to the traditional 'Auld Lang Syne' reaction video! Enjoy watching your reactions, and we have a similar deep, deep love for great music!

I'm curious which playlist the traditional auld lang syne video is in for your channel? And I'm sad because your Home Free Christmas Special has been blocked. Not sure if its just in some areas but I'd love to see your reactions to their Christmas songs. Even if it was done a separate videos instead of a special. Anyway, all the best Lyle!

Late to the party here but this popped up in my recommendations today for some reason. Two big criticisms - they make the common lyrical error of singing "days of auld lang syne". There's no "days of" in the line, but at least they don't compound it by then singing "for the sake of..." in the chorus. But the killer for me is pronouncing "syne" as "zyne". It's grating. Should be a soft S.
