Never apologize for having a tender heart. The video with Vince Gill singing and the story behind him writing it, is just beautiful.

I can't go to military cemeteries. It destroys me to see those miles of white markers and know they are all smart, strong and handsome young men who died in their prime. When we laid my veteran father to rest just a couple of years ago I knew that even those who survived the wars and grew old still carried those memories and ghosts with them and that's why they all want to be buried there; to be laid next to their brothers. God Bless you for caring enough to shed a tear.

This song was written by country star Vince Gill after his brother died. It’s not just for military. I sang it at the funeral of a good friend a few years back. It’s a very emotional song.

Actually, it was written by Gill after the death of his friend, country singer Keith Whitley. He finished the song and recorded it after his brother died of a heart attack.

I totally agree with the sentiment. It wouldn't be a real reaction to something sad if you didn't FEEL it. I mean, unless you're robots. This one makes me tear up only when I watch reactors to it. Maybe I'm going dry, myself...
@maryannanderson75174 жыл бұрын
This is the number one song that is played at funerals, at least in the South but I'm not sure about nationwide. My husband died 11 years ago and I had this song played at his funeral. The version I had played was the one by Vince Gill, Patty Loveless and Ricky Skaggs. This version by Home Free is beautiful but in my opinion NO ONE does it better than Vince. He wrote it and his recording of it is the version that became famous. Whether you do a reaction to it or not, you need to listen to Vince's version of this. He sang it live at George Jones' funeral and George was not only one of his favorite country music singers but was also a close friend of Vince's and it was heartbreaking to watch him struggle to try to make it through this song. I loved watching your reaction because if you do not tear up when you hear this song you might be missing a huge chunk of your heart.

I'm a year late, but I'm commenting anyways, lol. This song reminds me of my grandfather. He served in Korea as a military policeman in the Army. He served for about 2 years before coming home. He passed away a couple years ago due to an accident at a trash dump near my grandparents house. My sisters and I were not allowed to visit during the time he was in hospital because he didn't want us seeing him in such a state. And I was unable to see him before he died. Rest in Peace, Pop. ❤️

My oldest brother, a former preacher, turned truck driver, passed away suddenly last year. This song was played at his funeral. The day he died he was working on a way to connect truck drivers in a religious way, praising God and helping those struggling with faith and life. He was my oldest of 3 bothers and the last to pass away. I, as the baby boy, remain. He was, by far, the best of all of us.

This song was originally written for Vince's brother but I do believe the Home Free video is amazing by putting a bit of Military Pride and Pain in there.
