You absolutely did serve!! When our loved ones are sent overseas, especially during a war, we worry and pray. Fear is a constent companion. We jump at the ringing of the phone or doorbell, that fear never goes away until our loved ones are back home again,

"Go Rest High" was played at my brother's funeral in 2007. I have never seen grown men cry like little boys as soon as this song was played. Not just that they missed my brother, but the song touched them. No matter who you are, if you listen to this song and it doesn't move or touch you, I don't know what to say.

Yes, Jeffrey, it's nearly impossible for me to listen to this song without tearing up either. But that's what a powerful song well presented is supposed to do, move you. And this one makes you remember those you've loved and lost, and honor their memories.

Vince Gill wrote this song. He started it when his friend Keith Whitley passed (you were no stranger to the rain is in reference to Keith's song). Vince finished writing after his brother passed away. Vince sang this song at George Jones memorial. George was a mentor and good friend of Vince's, very emotional moment.

This one hit me hard, personally. When I was just a little one, I lost an uncle (father's brother) in Vietnam. He was a helicopter gunner (Army). I never got to meet him. But, with stories and pictures, I feel I "knew" him well. I am retired military and rare that I would cry. I did...

The song has a sad history too as the artist Vince Gill started writing it back in 1989 after the death of Keith Whitley but didn't finish the song until after his older brothers death in 1993. The song was released in 1995 and hit 14th on the country charts. He did get two Grammy's for it Have you shown the video to any of the family members that served? Could be a good video to see how they react to it.

This song, this dadgum song, bro. I've never lost someone to war, but I lost my grandfather a few years back. He served in Korea as an Army MP for two years before coming home. He was dedicated and hardworking, a loving husband and father to a wife and three children. He was a Christian and put others before himself. He was gravely injured while emptying Pepsi cans from the bed of his truck. He'd forgotten to put the brake on and the truck had rolled back over him. My grandmother didn't know how to stop the truck and panicked. The workers at the dump that day were so nice and helpful. One of them gave my grandmother a rosary to hold onto while they helped my grandfather. He passed later on in the hospital. I'm sorry this is so freaking long, but I can't not explain why I love and hate this song. I love it because it makes me think of my Papa and I hate it because I remember that he's not here with me.

This is a beautiful song. I just discovered Home Free this year and I can’t tell you how good they are. They are an “a cappella” group so they use no instruments. They sing all genres of music and do it well and they have a good sense of humor too and can be silly too. Try End of the Road (Boyz II Men cover), How Great Thou Art, Country Roads. So many good songs. Can’t go wrong with Home Free. Loved your reaction! Hope you had a Happy New Year!
