The dedication on the video says "In this uncertain time, there are so many brave people teaching us each day about real sacrifice. It's a beautiful song and has always brought a lump to my throat when I really listened to it, but the video has just made that even more so. GREAT REACTION-GOD BLESS YOU. Vince Gill wrote this song and finished it when his older brother Bob died of a heart attack. He sung it at Bob's funeral. This song not only applies to Bob, but those lost in the Military but to every family that loses a loved one. It envolkes the strongest emotions of our loss.

My mama, who I adore is doing much better with it, and with that it takes the hurt out. Its just the occasional shedding of a single tear out of nowhere that surprises me. Our military and vets do not get the gratitude they deserve. People who are not in military families or have family in the military will never know what it’s like to see your loved ones go off to the battle fields. I have brother who served 22 years on the military and did 4 tours (7 years) in the Middle East war. Each time he left to go, we never knew whether we would ever see or talk to him again. When I saw that Home Free had done another version of this song sharing the story of a family member who didn’t return home, I didn’t even make it a minute into the video before I was already balling my eyes out. Seeing the flag folded is something Ive seen done several times in my own family’s funerals. Each time, when Taps was played on that trumpet in the background and the honor guard started folding that flag, it always hit me hard. One death in particular though. I say all of this to ask this, PLEASE, when you see a person in military inform in active duty, THANK THEM for their service. When you see a vet, THANK THEM for their service. I can assure you, they will say greatly appreciate being told. They have not, do not and will never receive the full gratitude and appreciation that they deserve. They risk(ed) their lives for us and some sustained life changing injuries defending us and our nation. THANK YOU is the very least we can do for them.

Vince Gill wrote this song for his brother who died of AIDS. It had nothing to do with the military when he wrote it. However, the song has been used perfectly with this military video. Well done Home Free, Well done.
