Hey Guys...the lead singer is Austin Brown, and he's the high tenor for Home Free. However, he does have his own youtube channel, just called Austin Bown, and has some covers but also some original music too....look hi, up he's phenomenal !! As for Home Free don't be gone so long....they've been producing music all through the pandemic. If you noticed they were distancing filming this...each was at home and recorded from home excvept for Austin, who was in a studio...and thosexy looks he was giving to his Lady, Amberly, who was there to inspire him to sing well....I think they succeeded !!! Go for a funny Home Free next, as these guys love to cut up...it's kinda dated now but is still funny, do thei "Butts Remix/Medly" 6 booty songs they do an amazing mashup.

You should watch the American Pie Cover by Home Free featuring Don McLean, they pretty much all sing except for the beat boxer

Adam was also singing at the end of American Pie. I think some of those beautiful high notes were actually his. He has a great voice but prefers to do percussion.

They share the lead on songs depending on which song they're singing. The did American Pie with the original artist Don McLean, and each of the vocalists takes the lead on a verse. It is over an 8 minute song. The also share verses in other songs too. Enjoyed the reaction!

It depends on the song... sometimes one or two will do the lead... sometimes they all take a turn, it just depends on what fits the song best.

Pentatonics tends to be more rigid about how they split up the load. Home Free, IMO, is more likely to do what's best for the song first, and then work out how to make sure everyone gets sufficient spotlight over time. So some pieces they really do hand around the solos--a verse each. But other songs, like this, are so clearly built to be solo-with-backup, and rather than weaken the emotional punch of that one-man wail of love they simply gave it to Austin--the high tenor with the falsetto to manage it with absolute ease. But they've given other pieces to Rob (End of the Road). "Hillbilly Bone" is built around Tim's bass. Chance is the spearhead in "Cover Me Up." There are songs like "American Pie" that benefit from splitting up. Others are best largely unified. That's the thing about Home Free. Of all the a cappella groups, they are the least "about" the a cappella show-off, and the most about just using their many skills to produce the very best version of each song they can. It's not about "ooh, lookie-lookie, we are doing this without instrumentation." It's "listen to this incredible song." They do the very, very best they can for each different piece, and they do not betray the heart of the music.
@Aprlmoore3 жыл бұрын
That was an excellent way to explain their approach!
@janhankins9113 жыл бұрын
I have found that the members of Home Free are never "selfish", wanting the spotlight on them. They are more than happy to let the spotlight hit someone else in the group and they stay in the background. That's one of the best things about Home Free. They seem to truly care about one another and they are more concerned about making the music the best it can be, rather than who gets the spotlight.

So Home Free actually shared the limelight even more than Pentatonix does. Basically one member will take the lead, usually for a few videos, then they switch. The only one that doesn't take a turn is their beat boxer, Adam Rupp, and he doesn't because he doesn't want to. I've heard he's oddly why about normal singing. He dies sing in a few of their videos, but only background normally. (he sings a little in some of their live shows).

Hi there... Sledge tells this story about the impetus for the song: He was an orderly at the Colbert County Hospital during the days and a singer in an local band at night. One night he found he was so upset about a woman and a broken relationship that he couldn’t perform. His emotions got the better of him and he turned to bass player Calvin Lewis and organ player Andrew Wright and asked them to play a slow blues backing and he would sing what he was feeling. Sledge says the trio later reworked the idea he’d ad-libbed that night into the recorded version of the song. This Sledge song is the first in a long line of great songs recorded at the Muscle Shoals Sound studio in Sheffield, AL.

Most songs you will hear two to all four singing solos. The four guys are all great soloists. That's what makes HF so special! And the harmonies and arrangements are to die for. Keep doing the HF journey and we'll all be here for it! Take care.

Hi and welcome to Home Free. They’re so good. Each of them can sing and do depending on who’s best for the song. Austin and Adam (beatboxer) killed it. Tim, the bass, has a 5 octave range so he can sing low but sing tenor as well. The beatboxer is so good too, one of the best in the business. Try Helplessly Hoping, In the Blood, End of the Road, How Great Thou Art, Die a Happy Man to hear more great harmonies. Good reaction!

Great reaction! They share the spotlight differently than PTX( which is anazing). They usually put a different main lead in different songs. So they each gets different songs to shine in. Homefree 101: oe tenor which had lead in thi Austin Brown. Amazing!, 2and tenor Rob Lundquist beard and glasses which had the lead in End of the Road video you did. Also amazing! Their bass singer is Tim Foust. Had long hair in End of the Road video but cut it short in this one. Has a 5 octave singing voice. Which means he can sing tenor parts all the way down to low,low bass. Check out the cover of Misty Mountain ( from the Hobbit) by Peter Hollens featuring Tim Foust to hear him sing in low bass. He is phenomenal! Their bass/ baritone ( who takes over bass when Tim is singing lead) dark hair with beard is Adam Chance goes by Chance sings lead in " Cover me up". He is honey voiced. And beatboxer/ vocal percussionist is Adam Rupp. Aka the freak of nature. In my opinion the best! He is cofounder of the group with his brother Chris Rupp who you will see in older videos but has since left the group. Thank you for your reaction! Please react to more!

Great reaction! Love your puppy, I think he’s an Austin fan! LOL! Austin Brown did an amazing job. If you want to hear each of them sing, try: Rob Lundquist, full beard and glasses, End of the Road or Blue Ain’t Your Color. Adam Chance, yellow plaid shirt and goes by Chance, Some Girls Do or Cover Me Up. Tim Foust, basso profundo, Folsom’s Prison Blues or Man of Constant Sorrow. Adam Rupp, beatboxer extraordinaire, How Great Thou Art. Also, they each take a verse in American Pie featuring Don McLean (writer and original singer of the song), except Adam who does sing harmonies on the last verse. Any song you do though will have a wonderful mix of voices and you won’t be disappointed in anything you choose. New sub, hoping for more Home Free.

There are MANY MANY excellent HF videos to explore. Early in their HF exploration, most reactors view "Man of Constant Sorrow" and "Ring of Fire" (featuring a guest appearance by Avi Kaplan.) You will also get many suggestions to view HF's cover of "Mayday" by Cam. In order to enjoy this to its fullest, you must be familiar with all the guys and their voices. For most of us, that takes 6 or more "normal" videos before enjoying "Mayday." It's an excellent performance, and when you get there, you'll understand the reason for waiting! :-)

Hi guys - thanks for the Home Free reaction. usually they all split the verses, but if one person is particularly suited to the song, then they go with a lead singer. In this case their high tenor could do the song the best justice, so they let him run with it/ If you wish to hear them all do a verse, please listen to (Bye Bye) Miss American Pie. They covered this classic with the original singer/songwriter on the 50th anniversary of the song.

They all can and do sing lead (even the beatboxer sings on some songs - he has a lovely tenor and a surprisingly wide vocal range). One of the (many) things I love about this band is the lack of egos. Even if one of them has written the song (both Austin -lead on this) and Tim (bass) are song writers), if they think someone else sounds better, that's who will sing it. For example, Tim wrote the song "Remember This" but doesn't sing lead on it. Fall down the Home Free rabbit hole - they don't have a genre. They sing everything from country to pop, gospel to goofy and even opera.
