Definitely not the most aesthetically pleasing thing I’ve ever seen but definitely much safer than the last body swap. Thanks for not being squashed like a bug in front of your Mom. I don’t see you putting Norm Abram out of a job anytime soon.

a million years ago before harbor freight. cherry pickers were extremely EXPENSIVE and hard to find . I built a A frame to do A motor swap . I built mine from 12 4x4 lol 5 years later I threw another 4x4 across the top and swapped a 8v71 Detroit with it.iwhen so far as to put wheels on it .

Back 40 years ago before engine hoists and gantry cranes were common ... we'd put 4x4 posts in the garage rafters to attach our chain hoists to and would pull our engines that way. A long 4x4 post would distribute the weight. I'd still weld some hooks on the bucket of that Bobcat ... it will make hooking up a lot easier.

Last episode you said "cold garage floor". Buddy of mine used a mobile home furnace to heat his garage. The heat blows out the bottom. He got a used one for free and changed the jets to run natural gas. (was propane) Set it on some bricks in the corner. Warmest garage I have ever worked in. A guy could find one with the A/C too. Thank you both for doing these videos. I look forward to every episode.

Dan, don't ya wish that you would of done this a few cars sooner. Even repairs to the floor pan and the body would be a trifle easier. Got yourself a good lady Dan. So many won't put on a jacket and come keep ya company so shes a winner in my book. I honestly believe in my heart that this next two years, things are going to get better economically. All the way to a rotisserie maybe. I seen a guy use a part of a fire extinguisher holder and mount it to a sawsall blade, one of the long ones an then he slipped a can of spray paint in it and wowzer, it shakes the piss out of it! Just thought I'd share that with you.

I made a set out of 1 1/4" pipe uprights and a piece of pipe about 6" long welded on top of each upright with holes close to the ends with nuts welded to it big enough for a piece 1 1/2" pipe to go across and pulled an engine and trans with no problem. I used it outside, I put a piece of c channel across the bottom and some angle iron for gussets. The 3/8 bolts that held the cross pipe were probably the weakest link but it worked and then didn't take much time to take down and store. I ended up trading it to a buddy who needed it for something or another. You could just take yours back to your father's house and he can use it for a swing set.

When I did my Goat, I put the engine hoist in through the door. With chains in strategic locations it balanced so well that I just had someone steady the body at the back corner with one hand while I lifted it, rolled the chassis in with body mounts in place and lowered it onto the frame easy peasy.
