this is a blower I made from 2 arien snow thros, the impellers spin at 1083rpms, and the shoots are actuated by a buick window regulator. it lifts by the hand lever on tractor and is presently on a craftsman GT6000 18hp, it will be used on a GT3000 23hp however. finished too late to do any snow so have plenty of time to iron out the bugs clean it up paint etc.

That is cool & exactly what I was thinking of building for my garden tractor. I had a single stage blower, & it barely blew it past itself, gotta have the 2 stage setup. Much better.

I want to see snow videos now! I thought about building one myself. Most early snowblowers were designed to be split so attachments like plow blades and cultivators could be added. Those models offered a filter to be installed in warm weather to prevent dust and dirt from being drown in to the carburetor. I really would like to see how it handled sniw.

What a great Idea. If some one has a really long drive or other property like 50 to 100 car parking lot this might be really great piece of equipment. Is there some place you could add some weights to the front behind the augers? Possibly add metal of a heavier gauge around the existing augers? Good luck and I hope you find a buyer for it after you get to full test it out. Be safe any time you are working on it.

Just a thought, add a small winch ( elec starter motor from motorcycle or snowblower w/ reverse button ) to lower & raise blower. Just mount a toggle type switch ( spring type that allways returns back to neutral after u let go, so motor dose'nt keep running ) on the dash

Since that video I've done afew mods beefed up the framework changed the impellar on one side and disconnected the ring gear on one gearbox so one side drives both sides and also changed pulley configuration so runs faster I have a video of it blowing ice , at end of season I had to chip away at a snow bank and pile on driveway will add that video as well as new video of it showing mods , no videos blowing this year cuz it's buried in back of shed this year

Great project, and is "neat." But I noticed you did not record it in action. I am skeptical that the effort put into it is worth the outcome. You have added complexity and decreased available power and added single points of failure. Not likely that the snow is thrown at the distance of a single unit while attempting to increase volume output. Also it would benefit independent chute control since as is, anything other than 90 degrees widens the dump zone.

I plan on hooking it up to my 23 hp GT3000 , might have issues with belt slippage though, will add bigger idler pullies to wrap the belt tighter on top pulley.

I have since posting changed the impeller drive to a larger pulley matching the original ratio of blowers, only one gearbox drives both augers now and changed the impeller that was weak to match other side, have s simple cable setup to lift tilt unit and beefed up the framework. I only got one good try of it as end of season I could only get chunks of hard snow piled up on driveway which it ate up nicely till I broke a shear pin on one of the augers have video of that only other problem is it wants to climb up on snow need to have a downward force applied to it future fix.

gullporche yawn. What a big big big waste of time. People throw those large ones out all the time at the dump. Or you just could buy a large one in the first place or find it on Craigslist. No need for all the measurements welding buying parts belts. Blah blah blah.

Bigfoot And Bananaman I do too. I R & D and take a lot of things into perspective and try lots of things like this. But exposed open pulleys during a snowstorm. Won't work. Wide snow blowers that go on Kubota. are thrown out because they throw snow so far. There's no place you can use them commercially. Residentially is a different story. But that's where you get them cheap or almost for free. That's why I'm saying there's no need to make this shit yourself

@beakerunrefined4230 9 жыл бұрын
AikarambaGaming if you look at the double pulley at 18 sec. the larger is the same as the ine under the tractor making it a 1 to 1 ratio. what ever rpm the tractor is spinning which is most likely 3400 rpms or so translates to the smaller pulley shown at 18 sec. which is the same size as the one that would have come on the original snowblower. I think linking the gear boxes together creates unnecessary strain to the gears though, should have left them independent. it would have made it wider and also a quicker build.
