I think you did a fine job, covered the firebox air gap on top with the trim, did you put in a drain? My situation is I have a large tank 36" X 8.5' I wanted to build But dang it's huge, So I have a air compressor tank that is smaller, like 15" X 5' but the wall thickness is only like .175 And I have another larger air compressor tank that is like 24" X 6' with a wall thickness of .248 But I can't bring myself to destroy that tank even though it would be the ultimate for a smoker, I am going to go with the smaller air compressor tank build and use some of your designs. Just subbed man you should do more videos.

Good looking build. I’m about to build 4 “rentals” out of 100lb tanks. My question is do you feel 3/16 was enough of a heat sink or would you go 1/4”? Obviously the shell is thin so I’m debating how much steel to beef up to help the heat fluctuations. Look forward to your input and happy smoking!!! Adam from Duncan BC Canada.

I've burned about 3 trees through this thing since I built it. There's no sink from heat in the steel anywhere. I'm sure 1/4" would give better heat retention, but that is limited by the thickness of the propane tank I used for the food chamber. I use hickory and cherry and dictate my heat with the wood. In summer, I use 80% cherry and 20% hickory. In the winter I use 60% hickory and 40% cherry.
