When your records are slightly warped and the stylus does not track perfectly, and you think about a turntable weight stabilizer, you can make one.
I used a 3" reel i had available and looked for a piece of tube from a pen that has a size smaller than the hole, which would fit very well to keep a tight press when inserted on the turntable spindle.
No cost for me, it works perfectly, does not add any extra weight to damage your motor. I have 3 of these i make available. You can also try to make one for yourself.
I needed one clamp to play a warped vinyl record. I just wanted to show how to make a useful clamp, as i do not like weights/ "stabilizers".
It may be a little impractical if you do not have one if these reels already. They usually sell for about $15 each from what i see on eby and kjj. Finding the right pen grip may take a little trial and error, maybe $2. So $15-$20 should make you one.
Whats great about these is:
-Plastic looks good, it is well finished and won't scratch your label
-It won't add any stress to your motor, belt or direct drive
-it is flat so you can leave it on as you close the cover
-but the most important, it flattens the record quite well, totally playable and it binds it to the mat, thus improving tracking.
If you can find such a small reel from somewhere then it's easy. I had all the pieces and needed to flatten one warped vinyl record.
Caution: you may be tempted to use a 10cm (european) reel as it is the exact size of the label. But consider when headshell reaches the most inner circle it will hit it. I recommend only 3" type.
