I think this is the finest tribute one could pay to a person who, because of this disease, could never be "normal" as we know it. The one woman's brother who is so against them doing this doesn't understand there IS NO coming back from dementia. When you're there you're there and until the day comes when we have the ability to help restore the mind of a sufferer of this disease it's far better to allow the patient to live in the reality they understand. What is so "unorthodox" about that?

Her brother is not a very open and sensible person…..his wife on the other hand is very knowledgeable and compassionate, they make an odd couple that’s for sure

I think this is amazing. They are living with this terrible disease and would be feeling isolated from everyday life. If they are happy and this helps them cope with the disease that is fantastic.

My sister had Lewy Body Dementia, which destroys your brain, at an accelerated level. At the assisted living facility, The Residence, in Darien, CT,they made a muff to put her hands through, with colorful beads, and soft material. She couldn't walk or talk, at the end.

While honestly is usually good, in this case, it's best to go into their reality where they are happy, instead of putting our reality on them. For example, if their loved one passed, you don't remind them, it only saddens them.
