One tip to anyone who is starting out (and reading this).. there's a lot on the used market! You could get perfectly working stuff which has much higher audio quality than what you'd buy for the same price new :) So remember to keep an eye out for those too.

I have been looking for beginner home studio setups and for some reason everyone I watched just kept talking shit about everything that was under a certain level, mostly because they doesn't understand or probably don't remember what an actual beginner is ready for. This is the first video that has actually made me feel like I've finally got some nice and reassuring inputs to set up my home studio in my tiny budget. Thanks a lot for this!

I’m a musician, singer and songwriter. In addition to a laptop, I have some of the items that you said were needed for home recording on a budget including the MIDI keyboard, the DAW and closed back headphones. As it turns out, I work in an electronics store so I can get some of the items that you mentioned for less. The issue that I’ve been having with home recording is the know how with regards to how to use the items. I downloaded what was needed for the keyboard yet according to the instructions for the DAW(also a Behringer),it says that it has to recognize all the instruments used before recording. I also purchased a pop filter which was suggested by other musicians. In any case, I was very interested in what you said and have hit the subscribe button. Thanks for doing this-you just might have the answers to my questions.

@@buckbreaker5185 Thanks for the advice. At the moment, I’m trying Studio One as a DAW. Because of my financial situation, I can only afford a free DAW that can be downloaded on my laptop. Some time ago, I used my [winter holiday money] to purchase a condenser microphone kit. I’m still trying to figure out how to use it with the laptop.
@buckbreaker5185 Жыл бұрын
@@glamgal7106 any daw is good really. Reaper isn't technically free but it has an unlimited trial like winrar For your mic, unless its USB, remember you need an interface of some sort (like a scarlet 2i2) and also make sure you installed the audio drivers for the interface. That is very important Then in your daw assign the mic as an input and start making music my friend

For the person reading this comment; This video is perfect and accurate for a $300 BUDGET Studio. I would not recommend this setup for anyone who's been BOTH recording and producing for 3+ years. I have been recording music for 4+ years so I opted for a condenser microphone for better sound quality. As for the rest of the setup, it is perfect for my financial situation and also my beginner experience with producing. Obviously aim to upgrade your equipment as you progress and save money. That way your setup is growing WITH your experience. After making some changes for myself my total did not reach 300 or lower BUT it is still within range of my $400 budget which is perfect for me. (PS: I do have a producer to mix and master vocals and tracks for me which is another reason I chose for a condenser microphone)

I already had my guitar, amp, multi fix and a decent laptop and also had the monitors because I bought them to use as gaming speakers. I have a gaming headset and of course the multi fx pedal. I ended up Buying a microphone and an external sound card along with a DAW and since the specific sound card I got was for recording it as stuff like auto tune and other effects and settings etc built in and it worked fine for me. Cost me $60usd to do. But again I was only converting it from a gaming to recording. So that made it easier

This is a very nice video you've put together and is really helpful because frankly, when I was starting with my home studio purchases videos like this one were absolutely helpful (including many of yours). I would add one correction to it, though. That interface you chose requires two RCA outputs, and the Presonus monitors use two RCA inputs as well. The cable included with the monitors does not provide the connection those items need to work together. The cables you mention need to be purchased separately which may come as a surprise if someone is in a very early stage in their recording/producing career and are working with a really tight budget. Keep on your nice work!
