I've done a lot of DIY work, and watch a lot of construction channels. Most of the time I like to think I could do these things on my own and save some money, and have fun doing it. Watching you and your crew work like a well oiled machine and turn out such a great end result makes me realize this is one of those things to let the pros handle.

Tom you and your crews attention to detail is what makes your team so sought after to do so many jobs. You have to be so proud of what you have accomplished over the decades you've done this awesome work. And to find guys with such great work ethics that work so well together and don't seem to miss a beat to where it looks orchestrated says so much for your ability to lead your team. And what I really like is that you jump right in where you might be needed at any point in any process. It's a well oiled machine and that makes for a hell of a business you own. The quality is second to none. It's doesn't surprise me after seeing the jobs yall have done for Mike & mellisa Morgan and all these ones on your channel that your so successful. When your rocking in your old man's rocker chair one day on your porch In your 80's you will have so many wonderful memories from all over your area around Pittsburgh to reminis about and to be so proud of and seeing your son carry on your legacy for many more decades to come. I live in the Deep South one of the differences I see is what you use for base. Here we are required to use compacted earth usually clay or clay rich soil. You guys use stone. Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge Dean

I think im going to start doing concrete more often thanks to you. I already have a bobcat t140 and every other tool you can think of including an excavator. Im a licensed builder in michigan. dude that video was one of my fav of yurs, I love when u explain it all like u do. im not gona lie I've learned a few tricks from u and I've been in the mud 25 years most residential and some commercial. Do u know what a Kentucky tapcon is? I'm sure u do. a double head 16 and a piece of wire in a 1/16 or whatever hole instead of a tapcon

I like to put the 2x4 flat and put a 2x6 on top of the 2x4 which will leave a 2in overhang on the concrete but will give you a flat plate to edge the bottom. you do have to put studs under the plate and brace them but I like how the form can slide off and the nice edge for the bottom.

Looking good out there Tom , no you so much , the concrete lol . Anyhow . the auto glide broom I was talking about previously .....Its not so much the broom , although Marion Brush does make high quality brooms. It is the way the head tilts . You more or less broom with the edges of the bristles and not the tearing action of a straight up broom . Low and slow !

I'm curious. When he was brooming that porch he was bringing up small chunks that made it look sloppy. Is that something he goes back to when it's dry and scrapes that stuff off?

Believe what you are referring to he called crumb and said it just gets swept off.

Some debris falls off the broom from time to time and just lays on top it will sweep right off if you mess with it you make it worse thanks for watching

Sorry, hooking the rebar grid with a rake to pull it up is just for show. It’s a waist of time. Use chairs or blocks to hold it up. Use a pump, not a wheel barrel.

You should pull all the weeds and grass in the sub-grade....... before you put the stone on top of it.

It's funny to still see people pulling up the rebar during the pour, even though ACI/CRSI explicitly says to never ever do it.

Wire and/or rebar don’t do anything if they are sitting on the ground. Ideally you want them to be in the lower 1/3 of the slab. That’s where we aim to pick it up to. Thanks for watching!

@@GunpowderandFreedom The point is that it should be elevated already, not set in place when the concrete has already been poured. Same with any kind of anchors. No 'hooking', no wet setting.

When you take that bottom 2x4 off on the outside behind the 2x8 without running an edger along the top of the 2x4 doesnt the edge chip ??

It need the Epoxy rods, the rod drilled into the foundation should have been epoxied also, the could loses that porch,even though the head hoss doesn’t think so. Those weed should have been pulled out of there also. The steel and tying job on the porch sure looks better than they did on the garage...maybe they read my post on that garage floor .
