Truly one of the best DIY conversion videos I have ever seen. You took your time to explain everything and showed your progression step by step. I really appreciate your work and your sharing of your project. Looking to do a garage conversion to home theater of my own and this will help me greatly.

Thank you! I appreciate it, I tried to explain the main components, and keep the video short. I actually left out a ton of information. I hope your garage turns out well. I think the hardest part for you would be temperature control due to the concrete floors being cold. And sound control from your garage door, insulation could be used to help with that.

If i would change anything is put your chairs a little more closer to each other to sit more in the middle of the room, this to have more accurate sound in the listening position. And in between these chairs a very slim and low table to put a drink or you popcorn on it.😊 Or the chairs even next to each other and put something on the outside of the chairs.

Definitely a good Idea to have like a center console/table top. was considering it be a glass Display top, with controls for navigating through the movies, and control lights and audio actually. Good Idea though, I appreciate it :D

Cool, well done. Hard part about attic conversion is the roof line and fitting in a screen. The angles for the speaker placement make it a challenge as well. Also really hard to make it feel comfortable watching a movie with how tight it can be.
@DarkBloodMechanical

Those were the exact struggles I had. especially the roof shape. The geometry really restricts the screen size and placement.

Super clean, I hardly ever leave comments just lurk, but you deserve props on this project. whats awesome about home audio is that you can build piece by piece you're smart and patient enough to find great deals. under $700 for speakers and a receiver that is an awesome deal. The seating option is amazing, find some 7 series seats with heat and massage and now were talking luxury! seriously an amazing build for a small space, any home theatre enthusiast should be impressed by what you have done.
@DarkBloodMechanical

I super appreciate that! thank you. The heated and massage seats are a good idea.. that didn't cross my mind. Maybe if I decide to upgrade stuff, that will be on the list :D. And yea, I was super patient with everything I bought. Since I have a lot of projects going on, I generally have the time on the side to let components collect for the next one. I did my best to keep this whole project under $2500CAD.

Great setup but may I recomend you get 2 towers of the same series of you center speaker to timber match the sound in your front stage. As silly as it may sound adding a 2nd matching subwoofer will balance out the bass for a smoother feel and sound.

Great setup! I like your creativity on using car seats. I think it would have been a better deal, if you sourced a used Epson 5030ub, over the 2150. They can be found for very cheap, since people are making the move to 4k.
@DarkBloodMechanical
@DarkBloodMechanical Ай бұрын
I appreciate it! thanks!. Also, the 5030ub has a higher contrast ratio, however it isn't 4k. And also the offset center lens ratios wouldn't work with my setup unless I use keystone ( which reduces image quality ). Its the downfall of having a tight room with limited projection geometry lol. Awesome build i scored 2 towers and a polk center for like 100 bucks and the towers and center seperately go for 150 each, found the towers in a thrift store and traded my neighbor for some onkyo speakers. For surrounds I have 2 b&w lm1s for sides and polk rt3 for surrounds. I am planning to build a full set of custom theater speakers. I found with some DIY work for around 1500 you can build a set of speakers that from a company would cost that per tower lol. But I love polk and will probably keep my old speakers for a living room setup.
@DarkBloodMechanical
@DarkBloodMechanical Жыл бұрын
Oh for sure, you can definitely find bargains on a lot of this stuff if you have the patience. That sounds like a crazy build, you should upload the build on youtube, people would be interested. Those polk Towers are solid and sound absolutely crisp, big fan of them. The Klipsch sub was the only ( new ) item I bought in this, but it was well worth it. My only complaint I have with the whole sound system, is the Center speaker... Since all the dialog happens there, its sometimes difficult to hear clearly. I've played with all the sound settings to aid it, but in the rare cases, its just a bit muffled. Next time, I will invest in a better center speaker. Thanks for the watch and comment!

@Dark blood Mechanical yeah I'll start working on it lol one thing I'd recommend is try 7.1 instead of 5.1.2 and see if you like it more, I've tried both and I think 7.1 is more immersive cause it Surrounds you more and atmos channels aren't used nearly as often. I really want to get a 9 channel reciever to have 7.1.2 but new they start around a thousand dollars and go for 4 to 600 used on ebay lol a little out of the question atm lol. Another thing I highly recommend is getting rid of those sony speakers and going all polk it'll sound much more full and clean. Especially dialogue and the surround effect will all he way more immersive. I only say that as I've done the same thing before multiple times but once you upgrade them you'll hear it and go wow that's a difference Especially that center, sony really doesn't make very good standalone speakers and their good ones are ridiculously priced lol. If you could find the polk cs400 or cs400i they're some of the best center channels polk has made and the cs400i also has those blue drivers and would match. But ill definitely let you know when I upload it 👍
@ryzenpeak
@ryzenpeak Жыл бұрын
@Dark blood Mechanical if you can't though their signature lineup and the xt lineup both have some good centers anything below won't be as good but I think really any of polks centers will sound better than that sony most likely.

Great video! Can you provide any details about how you built the sliding projector mount? Thanks!
@DarkBloodMechanical
@DarkBloodMechanical Жыл бұрын
Sure. for the mount. Seen at ( 12:15 ). I used a Post base which you can find at any home depot or lowes. I had to trim it down as seen in the video. I then drilled holes into that base to receive the Benq CM00G3 20" post ( seen at 12:36 ). For the ceiling, I used a 2x6 lumber about 3 feet long ( seen at 12:20 ) I used a laser to line it up with the front of the room to make sure its straight. I then Mount the whole assembly up using a set of bearing slides 24" stroke ( 12:08 ), these can also be found at a home depot or lowes. These slides are mounted directly to the sides of the 2x6 as can be seen at ( 12:42 ). I hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other questions.
