As we say in South Africa "The bigger the problem, the bigger the hammer! " Love how you tackle the obstacles that invariably pop up when working on projects such as these. Keep up the great work.

It's great to see someone just fix a broken part rather then replace. When that cam sensor broke I instantly figured you'd buy a different one. Great Job so far!

Doing twice is just how projects work. You make a first version, realize what you would wanted to have built and have to remake it. Progressing insight is the name of the game. Keep on keeping on Jeff!

Jeff, I would have used some oval stainless exhaust tube to make an intake and move the MAF to a more spacious location.

Jeff, the reason for the electric vacuum pump is that those engines have a lot of valve overlap and under some throttle conditions generate little manifold vacuum, that elec pump is necessary I think. And the correct term for the "hammer work" is "massaged"...

I may even remove the booster all together in the future as unassisted brakes have much better feel.

funny, you get an idea, then form plans, then when you start the work and really get into it, you find the job sort of designs itself. you just have to see what's happening and stick with it. sure is entertaining to watch somebody else do this stuff.

Great work doing those engine mounts. When you did the first ones I though they looked like a dogs breakfast. But this YOUR car not mine. Then you fixed them in the end anyway. To a much better mount and tidier looking ones too. Good work.

You’re a genius. One percent inspiration (though I think you have way more than that) and ninety nine percent perspiration (we could tell it’s way more than what you’ve shown us - probably tossing and turning till you’ve reached your ‘aha’ moment). Glad to see the back of those old engine mounts. I've seen the Alfarrari ones so I'm sure these will be beautiful! As someone else here said I think, why not just move the MAF round and connect the inlet with a simple hose?

The second vacuum inlet is for before TB, there have more vacuum under FT.

More logic going in to this build, it looks like the mods to the subframe are going to make your life easier if you have to do some serious maintenance after a hard days on track. I would recommend a bigger persuader for bodywork.

Jeff just wondered why you didn't choose to have the 2 parts of the subframe bolt together by having a dowel on the back part that fits inside the front tube. Is it because of the lack of height to get a bolt through it

As this is to be a track car could you remove the rear panels and just have the outer panels on a dreaded square steel frame held on with dzus fasteners. Easy rear access is everything they tell me.

Putting the air intaked through to the boot area of the car is a bad idea and should be relegated to the junk box. The rear of the car will be a low pressure area and the engine will have to compete with the air being sucked out of the boot when you add the necessary vents. Then there's the issue about ducting through a structural member that similarly is not a good idea. The result will be a loss of power that would not be welcome. The existing air intake is where Porsche designed the engine to breathe from and thus must be considered as the optimum position.
@stevenwest14943 жыл бұрын
What's the most amount of times you've taken an engine in or out of a car in a month? More than 4? 😂
@gazzafloss3 жыл бұрын
You have to remember most of the engine "in and outs" Jeff is doing is a long way from what has to be done by a person pulling an engine for rebuild then replacing it afterwards. Not to take away from the great efforts he puts in to keep us entertained...
