Jeff, Jasewilks mentioning you and your Home Built channel is an amazing compliment, but also shows this is a great project, given how few people made this V8 swap work. Aaron Fincher also did a 4.2L Audi V8 - 986 Booster swap, with some fine audio and handling videos.

Jeff great video. You are a brave man to choose the most complex pain in the ass motor to maintain and engine swap. Be careful when cutting that close to motor on exhaust pipes. The debris flies up in to the motor and if there is an open valve all that abrasive goes in to combustion chamber. Then you have a bad cylinder in a few weeks. Only with the wheels not with saw. I cannot wait to see the Alfa done!!

If you want to be absolutely insane when building a boosted V8, a lot of V8s have their piston timings such that you can actually run twin-scroll superchargers on each side and get fantastic exhaust scavenging and get even better low and mid-range performance out of your turbochargers since they're able to build boost more consistently. Twin twin-scroll turbos would be a real challenge to fit into that car, but it's a mad build for a V8.

Alright, I'm sold! As soon as you said "the older version with a timing belt", I had much hope. I've heard the rumor about the trans fit up and I can easily see how much that simplifies the swap. Now for the "minor details". In future, on the AC problem, call Benny up-he has worked some cars in his shop with AC, so I'm thinking he either has or has a mate who has the pump and evacuation gear you would need. And thank you for taking the effort not to just let it blow- it's the kind of decision we've come to expect from you, Jeff! Best to the Missus! She signed on for some "driving lessons" yet?

After the last video, I found some information on the marriage of Audi V8s to Boxsters. Can't say I'm surprised that the transmission mating up to the unit is a big deciding factor - that sure saves a bit of work. Should be quite a machine when you're done!

Make sure to replace the coolant pipe in the oil cooler while you have the engine out. A known failure point on these engines and a major pain to do with the engine in place. The aftermarket aluminum version is far superior to the OEM plastic pipe.

Gearbox compatibility, when swapping engines, is a huge deal - as you've found with the Alfarrari, the measurements, modifications and fabrication needed to make a different gearbox fit aren't simple or cheap! I battled for ages on getting the gearbox, flywheel, clutch etc sorted on my Anglia too, because my Mitsubishi engine never had a RWD gearbox! I did think before you announced it that you've gone with the Audi because the engine is in front of the gearbox, and it's got the driveshafts out of the side of the gearbox, which is what you need for the Roxster! /smugface

And Audi, Ford and Volvo is like Lego if you know what parts fit what. The Mondeo ST220 3 litre engine can be be bolted straight to the Jaguar X series all wheel drive box so you can basicly make a 4x4 Mondeo ST220 if you want to. And since the estate rear suspension is based on the X series, you can use Jaguar stuff to make it 4x4. The rear drive Jag box can also be bolted to the ST220 engine which is based on the Jaguar 30 series engine, so you can build a rear drive Capri for exsample with the 3 litre Mondeo engine.. Or with a Jag engine if you want. The Jag engine also came with supercharger. I know there at least one Capri running that Jag 3 litre engine in UK.
