BUT NOW THE NEW CROP I THINK IS STUNTED. I AM IN ZONE 7-B, & THE WEATHER NOW HAS BEEN SO UNPREDICTABLE EACH WEEK THAT I DON'T EVEN TEND IT ANYMORE. WHAT STATE ARE Y'ALL IN ? DO YOU SHIP SPINACH TO CUSTOMERS ? I KNOW AT LEAST YOU'RE SO NOT HAVE PESTICIDES ALL OVER IT OR POSS SALMONELLA, E-COLI, OR LISTERIA!

How do you guys cool down the greenhouse during the summer? A wet wall? how much does it help? Thanks!! Love learning from you ladies!

Yes, wet wall and it makes a HUGE difference. Depending on humidity outside it can lower the temp in the greenhouse 15-20 degrees.

@HomegrownPassion4 жыл бұрын
Gabibey Thank you! We used to have bad luck germinating spinach. It was very frustrating, but we started germinating the seeds in wet paper towels with a hydrogen peroxide solution. It’s so much better and doesn’t waste growing medium. We did a video on it a month or so ago. Hope it can help because spinach is so good when it’s fresh!

Hi Devon..great job.....There are some ideas that I can suggest you to reach highest yield with less water consumption.if you have time kindly go through uses of Coco peat and how it has been used wisely in horticulture/Floriculture/agriculture.
@nanda_zealot4 жыл бұрын
Instead of plastic trays I would suggest coir trays/pots (100%organic and Bio degradable) which can hold water for a long time. And you can also try Coco disc/pellets for seed germination.
@nanda_zealot4 жыл бұрын
Moreover we can use coir tray/Coco pellets multiple cycles for seed germination whereas sponge difficult to use multiple times...
@HomegrownPassion4 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for your suggestions. I would love to try coco peat for our hydroponics. We have discussed trying it in the high tunnel once growing season starts again. That is very interesting about seed germination though and using it multiple times. Thank you for telling me and I will look into it. Hope you are having a nice week!

Hey great video I stumbled across your channel some days ago and so far I like the content. One quick question I'm planning on doing a little hydroponic setup, can it all be done without shade because I'm not thinking of putting any?
@HomegrownPassion3 жыл бұрын
Thanks and I appreciate that! It depends on your location and time of year. That component is basically the same as soil. If it’s really hot and bright in the summers, there’s plants that won’t be able to tolerate it. It can definitely be done without shade with the right crops.

Hello. Thanks for the video, it was very informative. I am actually about to start growing lettuce to supply commercially to local restaurants where I am based, and I wanted to ask you, do you multi-seed germinate varieties such as butterhead, oakleaf and bibb? Or do you do single seed for these? What would you recommend? Thank you in advance
@HomegrownPassion4 жыл бұрын
Hello for butterhead we do one seed. For oakleaf and endive, we do two seeds and for spring mix we do 5 - 7 seeds. Hope this helps and congrats on providing to restaurants! That is very cool.
@mamdot904 жыл бұрын
@@HomegrownPassion thank you very much for your informative and kind response. Presently I’m doing microgreens only. But plan on starting lettuce mixes as well. What exactly is your spring mix? And what varieties would you recommend generally for restaurants? I was thinking butterhead, iceberg, oak leaf. But please do let me know if you feel other varieties would be better
@HomegrownPassion4 жыл бұрын
Asad Mamdot I’ll have to check to see what is in the spring mix. It comes premixed from the place we purchase seeds. Those are all great varieties for restaurants and I would also recommend romaine lettuce too. It is popular and holds up very well and can last awhile in refrigeration.
