Nathan from CropKing comes out to the greenhouse to look over a few issues we are having. Blosom End Rot, Powdery mildew and how are bato buckets are doing using only one fertilizer recipe. Doug goes over his strawberry grow bags and shows you how he planted the strawberries.

Rebar, baling wire and duck tape…..where would we be without it! 😄 The pollen flying around is crazy. Never saw that before here in California. Thank you and Nathan for sharing all the info on blossom end rot. I just garden as a hobby and it is nice hearing an expert provide explanations like that. Have a great week!

Great intro and outro sections, as always. the pollen clouds , oh my !!!!! I have listened to other presentations by Nathan from CK. He said the ONE item ( just one time) I seldom hear growers talk about , the drain water numbers ..... What is passing through the plant , into the return drain line, is a valuable piece of the whole balanced puzzle. More to share on that topic in future videos I hope. The break down of the how and whys on the one tomato seed type was excellent. Doug's drip line install and root stick "fix" was brilliant. A second topic I do not hear in greenhouse videos ( other youtube growers) often is controlling temperatures with evaporative cooling. The wet drip wall being the 3rd choice , behind night fan control and wetting down the floors early mornings. You 2 really are a joy to learn from and appreciate . What you continue to create together, feeding your community , and the quality of your video production . Thank you :)

Thanks for sharing! Though I don't get to watch all yall videos I do try and catch the ones like this one. Always some great information! Thanks for sharing that with everyone. That was a great invention to put those strawberries in! Yall tomatoes are looking great. We're getting some serious splitting now if we don't pick at first blush. The heat is brutal already. Thanks again for sharing all the information that yall do! Gro Dat!!

splitting sucks.... just when you are ready to pick the perfect tomato and split. we used to have some split, but watering more often has seemed to stop it for now

Always wondered if them pollen clouds made bovine hungry? Like an aroma filled house when your friends mom was cooking up dinner 🤷‍♂️ but I am curious, would a new paint stick Work as good as an old one that was laying around? 🤔😳 ,,, kudos 👍 to all the submitted pics! Some good looking operations 😎 ….. ✌️🤙

No, grass pollen only causes hay fever. Thankfully it is mid winter here.

Suggestion: those grow stands, could use the top boards turned on their sides, these would act as beams, on each side of the stands, providing support and to prevent bending. Best regards

love the strawberry bag system. That may be easier to maintain than what we are currently using. Where did you get the bags? What do you use the Dorhea Digital LCD Temperature Controller for? I saw it in the links for this video? Chuck

Thanks for sharing your updates! I wonder if the strawberry seedlings having leaves on them work as well or we should culture only the seedlings with all their leaves have been removed?

Wonderful video! And to the other at home hydroponics grower! Your plants are beautiful! I can only hope mine do as well. My set up got spider mites somewhere and so I took it all apart and have it washed/bleached and sitting out in the sun to, hopefully, kill off those naughty things. I cleaned the area and lights. I'm letting it go empty for a week. But I do have a hoop house and 2 big garden outside to keep me out of trouble. I have mylar survival blankets on my walls behind my rack of LEDs to help focus more light. Have you tried that yet?
@HomegrownPassion

@@HomegrownPassion i bought 10 in a packet from Amazon rather cheap. I know they are about $3 at walmart in the camping section. I bought them and put one in each car for my family. I worried about slide offs in winter and getting cold before the tow truck comes. I had several left and taped one to my back wall to help reflect the light back. I was going to put one on the front like a curtain but haven't yet.

Hi I've started my own strawberries in coco coir bags and they are growing well. Have also placed some in pots with promix 4. Also doing well. Love your videos. My question is should I be snipping the first Blooms off my plants? They are still quite young. Thank you

yes to get more strength into the plant then make sure you take off the runners

Blossom end rot in tomatoes is caused by low pH in the hydroponic water, increasing the pH >7.6 should eliminate blossom end rot. Because I came from an area where there was free calcium nodules in the soil, so used to pH > 8.5. I run my small hydroponic setup at about pH 8.0 by adding sodium or calcium carbonate and have virtually eliminated blossom end rot from tomato production using standard calcium levels in the water. Yeah, I get a bit of iron deficiency at that high pH but any thing around 7.0 should be OK.

Have you experimented with dosing extra CO2 into the greenhouse?
@HomegrownPassion
@HomegrownPassion Жыл бұрын
You know we looked into a CO2 generator a few years ago and then did some air studies and found we are fine. It would probably help but at this point we are just going to stay with what we have.

@rjaquaponics9266 Жыл бұрын
@@HomegrownPassion FYI If you have problems with condensation, extra CO2 will eliminate the excess moisture.

You need a tomato variety that is applicable to your area and has disease and pest tolerance to the bugs you have. Any agricultural supplier should be able to source seed that is suitable. An issue faced by seed suppliers is the likelihood of seed borne virus disease that is quite common in tomatoes. In short, American tomato seed may not suitable for Pakistan, so find a local supplier.
