I would LOVE to be able to keep a record like that too! Very impressive from a record keeping perspective and could definitely help to remember which crop did what and exactly how long until ready for market in my case I need a way way smaller scale just so I can keep up with the needs of the family so we don’t have to go on with binging on one kind of lettuce for two weeks straight and so I can incorporate some more varieties and keep it interesting! I’m absolutely loving having my NFT system that we purchased the ‘bones’ from Amazon and then modified to be on a much sturdier shelving unit so I couldn’t knock the entire thing over by accident! 🥰🙏🏻🇨🇦

i never prune the flower clusters off of cherry or grape tomatoes. Those things are so prolific anyway. I do think it makes sense to do it to full sized varieties though. I also wanted to let you know that you might want to try to dilute the nutrient solution y 50% in your new seedling trays. The full strength might be the reason for your algae bloom issues. Mine don't have much algae on them. I only use well water and a little (product called essential) (1-0-1) to start them then I move them into my propagation system with half strength of my lettuce nutrient mix. It works well for me anyway! Great stuff sister. Keep 'em coming! Chuck and Darlene

We have used the same tomato clips and strings for many years. Love to your family from ours. Just like your men I do not want to be on camera. But as a man I would like to see your Dad & Bobby more. I have no problem with your mixing skills but. You should get a dust mask and safety eye googles. I used to work in a nursery and during the winter it was my job to open the pro-mix bales and fill all the hanging pots and big planters so that when planting season rolled around you just had to plant/put hangers on/hang up. That stuff is very hard on your lungs and I even scratched my eye with perlite. I even had what I thought was a wart/hard black head on the side of my nose. It finally got puffy and swelled up. The dr helped me drain it and out popped a small piece of perlite! It had been in there for 2 years! I do see you are outside tho but I figured a word of caution never hurts.

On the morels. Ours was dismal this year. I normally get enough black morels for one meal and enough yellow morels for a few meals but last year and this year I only had like 2 to 8 of both colors so we left them and they are drying out and hubby is going to hit them with the mower today. I'm hoping it will spread the spores and they come back stronger. We also get king bolites and giant puff balls and I seeded oyster mushrooms out by the dying trees they bloomed a couple big handfuls of oysters last fall and I'm hoping for more this year. I’ve got a few tomato plants on the go but I can’t seem to stimulate blooming so I’ve recently moved them into a larger tote with 13 tomato plants (I don’t expect them all to make it) it’s 100litre heavy duty tote, I’m using General Hydroponics flora series with an aggressive growth/blooming recipe, and I haven’t added the koolbloom nutrients as the extra push but I definitely intend to once I see they have adjusted to the transition to this large growing space and once I began seeing some blooms. I can’t imagine ever pulling blooms off but I do understand the theory behind it which sounds very similar to when you ‘top’ a sweet pepper plant. But I’ll be thrilled just to get some blooms and growing actual tomatoes will be an indoor gardeners dream come true! 🥰🙏🏻🇨🇦

Wow I have no clue how you manage to grow and germinate all your various lettuces and leafy greens! Your heads of lettuce just turn out looking gorgeous exactly what they look like on the seed packets! My lettuce on the other hand looks like lettuce gone wild and I’ve yet to be able to grow a lovely head of butter crunch lettuce or any of the other varieties. I always find your videos inspirational because somewhere in the back of my mind where my competitive spirit resides I think well if they can grow it like that on such a massive scale surely I can manage a dozen or so. Lol! Not so far but I’m not giving up, in fact I’m going to check out those Johnny seeds and those starter cubes. I was surprised that your PH is at 5.8(I think that’s what your mother said?) I totally agree about keeping the algae growth minimized as much as possible gives your plants a much better chance of receiving the nutrients that you intend them to have instead of the algae thriving on it. I’ve also let some jiffy pods grow the algae just to see how much it impacts the lettuce as it continues to grow and wow that algae can get pretty thick and when it gets on anything hands it just sticks like glue it seems. Anyway I’ve always tried to avoid it as my number one solution and so far that’s been the very best way to control it or not have to control it, just restrict light in the water channels and the main tank. I’m growing indoors in a tiny space and I have a 70Litre tote that I’m using for my NFT DIY system and I find just by having smaller holes in it allows the plants once they are large enough to transition to block out the light and if it doesn’t then I use aluminum foil and I wrap the shiny side out which also seems to promote the growth underneath. 🙏🏻🥰🇨🇦. Thanks for sharing and when the budget allows I need to purchase some of those special seed cubes and those pearlized seeds(don’t know what they are really called? Pellets?)

We recommend that people rinse the produce because the greenhouse pulls in fresh air so there could be dust that settles on it, but honestly I never do. I hate soggy salads.

Oh no! That is scary. Haven't heard anything yet, just about the shortages last year and the farmers being told to destroy their cattle herds. I hope that crazy stuff doesn't happen, but we have noticed a high demand for seeds.

Food grade peroxide wipes out algae and mold without the hazards of bleach. Some peroxide is actually good for the plants themselves

When your father gets the dosimeter installed you won't have the algae problem or the weak dosage problem any more. It will be interesting to see how much that changes things. It will be interesting to see if there is a noticeable increase in production. I'm sure you already know how much it costs you to grow a lettuce to maturity. It will be interesting to see if that changes. It would be interesting to see how much more expensive growing a lettuce in the house would be when you buy nutrients in small quantities. I couldn't help thinking how many young mothers would love having your working conditions. Take the kids to work day! Let them bug grandma and grandpa while I get some things done. Just joking. I do notice from watching videos how much people are enjoying their green houses and high tunnels. They sure do seem to make it easier to grow things.
