Great video. Anyone here had trouble connecting to HomeKit to HomeBridge? Keeps giving me an error "Accessory Not Found". I've tried the "Reset Pairing/Accessories" and "mDNS Options" in the basic troubleshooting on Wiki HomeBridge, but no bueno. I suppose it could be a setting I need to change in my modem/router, but not sure. I'm on MacOS Ventura (13.0.1) with an always on Mac Mini (M1). Thanks!

ok, but what happens to complex accessories? Example: a robot vacuum cleaner that uses a map to orient itself. Will you have the map on homekit or just a way to turn it on/off?

Is the Pi Zero still going strong for you? Funny enough I bought one of those *years* ago but I never did anything with it yet! lol. I also have a regular Raspberry Pi that I’ve used on and off for a bit but I like the idea of making it a dedicated appliance.

@AppleGuideWeb2 жыл бұрын
Really you can use any Raspberry Pi for Homebridge. Or if you have a Mac or PC that you keep running all the time you can install Homebridge on that and it will run in the background. Guides for that can be found on their website: homebridge.io

Could you explain me please What is a childbridge and how to setup? Ex. I installed the xbox tv bridge but the switch appears only under accessories of homebridge. Nothing appears when i add the bridge to HomeKit. Thank you!

What is the exact name of the plug-in you’re trying to use? Is it called “HomeBridge Xbox Tv”? If so, here is a link to the support doc for the plug-in that may be helpful: github.com/grzegorz914/homebridge-xbox-tv#readme

So, on your Xbox you have: 1. Enabled instant-on power 2. Enabled 3rd party connections On HomeBridge: 1. Use the authorization manager to give HomeBridge permission to control your Xbox 2. Edit the config file with your own parameters based on the documentation 3. Does your Xbox have a static IP? I don’t have an Xbox so it can’t try it for myself. But, these were just some of the things in the directions that you could have missed
@Fjod882 жыл бұрын
@@AppleGuideWeb thank you for answer! So the Problem is that I can’t have a Button in HomeKit App, probably I dont understand how work the childbridges. If I go to homebridge/accessory/xbox, ti works all well.

Will it still work if I install it on my old Mac mini ? What if the computer goes to sleep mode? Will I lose the connection to HomeKit?
@Noneya.2 жыл бұрын
It will work fine on Mac mini. I would set it up as a virtual machine. You might want to double check to make sure WOL is enabled. If you still use the mini often you may consider buying a Pi model with an Ethernet port so you don’t bog down your system/ Wi-Fi network and have a more stable connection. If you have never setup a Pi don’t let it intimidate you. It is typically very easy and well worth it to have a dedicated unit running smart home connections in my opinion. Also just FYI, depending on the model you may be able to upgrade your “old” Mac Mini to run as well as or better than a new Mac mini for fairly cheap. I added 2 internal SSD’s plus 16gb or ram to my 2012 i5 mini, and it runs almost anything I throw at it (including photoshop and video encoding). Not bad for a 10 year old computer. Too bad Apple no longer lets people upgrade their own systems.

Hi, Pi Zero W is with RAM 512MB is enough? No need Pi 3 or 4?
@AppleGuideWeb3 жыл бұрын
Yea, it will work just make sure you have a solid WiFi connection. An unreliable WiFi connection can cause your devices to disconnect, be unresponsive, or lag. For me, I haven’t had an issue because I keep mine right next to the router. But just something to keep in mind. Thanks for watching!

@AppleGuideWeb3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the idea, I may try it in the future. But, I looked up your situation. I believe your referring the BroadLink WiFi Smart Light switch (www.ibroadlink.com/products/smart-light-switch). Unfortunately, BroadLink appears to be a smaller smart home accessory maker, which can create some compatibility issues. So, when I looked up the brand in the list of NOOBS plugins I didn't see anything that really stuck out as an official plugin. There was one plugin I found that you can give a try: Broadlink Platform (plugins.hoobs.org/plugin/homebridge-broadlink-platform). I hope this works for you, and you found this helpful!

highly do not recommend placing boards on top of anti-static bags, that is a no no. Static bags act as a malleable Faraday cage, meaning it stops the static from outside of the bag from damaging what is inside by transferring it along the outside of the bag. Therefor it is counter-intuitive to put it on top, it is supposed to be sealed inside for it to be actually protected, which is also bad from a thermal standpoint.
Man, pls, buy shirt your size)) why it 3-4 sizes bigger than your)))

@AppleGuideWeb3 жыл бұрын
It should work on your Mac Mini so it won’t hurt to give it a try especially if you have it and to keep it out of the garbage. For configuration, go to the “Energy Saver” preference pane and adjust the settings there to keep the Mac awake. If the Mac go’s to sleep it will loose connection to Homebridge.
