Meanwhile the Republicans want to spend a few hundred billion dollars more on the military, which is already taking half of our GDP and is the largest in the world, larger than China and Russia combined! And to support this increase in military spending they want to decrease the spendings on social services and assistances for the poor and elderly.

Serene Hans That is absolutely not the case. Only people who mistreat or neglect friendships end up friendless.

I would never say I have been homeless, but once was kicked out of brothers Home when I was younger, my gf & I both had jobs in Atlanta area, but slept in our car for a couple weeks before a co worker noticed, and let us sleep on couch til we got money saved up for to rent an apt, later I found an affordable apt in a smaller town, but at 18 years old couldn’t find a suitable job, of course - I had limited skills, the best thing I ever did was recognized the situation I was presented with, & joined the military, which was the start of my pathway to a better future.

@calmvideo-kv6gv6 жыл бұрын
DP 63 The tiny homes movement is one way of providing affordable housing. If we all lived in moderation everyone could live comfortably. Unfortunately that isn’t what the majority want. So DP63 the generations to come will pay dearly with widespread suffering.
@DP-jy2ge6 жыл бұрын
viddha That's the problem, the lack of motivation to work for things. Part of that work is living frugally. I've known people on welfare save enough money to buy property. Simply by family members all living together in the cheapest property they could find, and going without things like fast food, cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, soda, new clothing, sports and hobbies, restaurants, holidays, etc etc. ANYONE can get ahead if sufficiently motivated. If these kids are smoking or drinking or indulging in any other "luxury", they're not motivated, and have no business expecting "help". Meantime, I agree that tiny houses are a good solution, but we need to build or buy our own, and then be happy with it, instead of begging for others (who do the hard work you don't want to do), to give them stuff.

I wish you all the best, it is very sad you have to live like this, especially during winter time. :( In my country, Poland, the minimum wage is about 1500 zl. From this salary, if you do not have your own house, you can only pay for a rent for a room around 700-800 zl in big cities ( in the small cities less ), the rest you will have for the food and that is it. You will be missing money for the mobile phone and bus ticket for the whole month, maybe when you eat very cheap food it will be possible. Generally it is rather rare that a family is just kicking out from their house their own child when he reaches the certain age. Renting a house is also expensive because everywhere it is a business nowadays. ( minimum 1500, 1600 zl for a studio in a big city ). Therefore is very often that even an adult above 25 is living with his parents because renting is just not profitable and by living with the parents you can usually save money. I do not think we have these kind of tent communities for homeless people as you in USA. We do have shelters . Most of the homeless people in Poland are men ( around 85 % ), above the age 40. ( this is from current statistics ).

saturnian sun yeah even before my experience of having unstable housing I wondered why big churches weren't housing LAs homeless. LA homeless problem haunts me to this day. I live in NorCal now in a student apartment and I obsess over LAs homeless. My heart is with LA. When I get my B.S. lll probably go back to LA. If I was suddenly wealthy I would BE THERE. My true loves are the homeless and animals. Everyone isn't as smart and lucky as me. If millions of successful people are too stupid to go vegan, the homeless are mostly too mentally crippled to help themselves. Being temporarily homeless and completely vegan gives me a perspective I want to make into a movement. I marched for Bernie and I always vote so don't blame me.

Christi Nash I know a few of the homeless in my area, and have spent some time with them. Talking with them, I find that the majority of them had a very traumatic experience that they simply have not forgiven themselves for....may explain why most of them are addicted to alcohol. As far as vegan goes, these people (homeless) eat whatever they can. One in particular, has been known to kill rabbits and squirrels for food. Meat eaters are not "stupid" Let's be careful not to allow divide and conquer techniques to work so well. People probably eat too much meat, though. I eat the flesh of animals, but I keep it to a minimum and bless the food and give thanks to help purify it. My heart goes out to the homeless also, but we all have our own lessons to learn in life. Good talk. Many blessings to you and yours....
@saturniansun81106 жыл бұрын
Tony Martinez I agree. When greed and selfishness is the rule of the day, many will suffer, including the greedy and the selfish. I gotta tell ya though, I have housed probably about 20 or more people to give them a place to stay for 30 days rent free to get their lives in order, and only 3 or 4 of them took the opportunity to better themselves. The Men who hold high places, must be the ones to start... Care and compassion shouldn't have to be explained to folks... These abandoned houses and properties could be used for shelters, but I've heard stories about the violence of men's shelters, and I wonder if so many in one place could get along with each other. Tony Martinez not sure if someone can get help if they don't want to better themselves, but it warms my insides to hear you had better luck in the turnout of people wanting to do better. I swear, the system is designed to oppress people. Maybe its just a test of ones character. Good things
@saturniansun81106 жыл бұрын
Tony Martinez until the people (in the system) realize that its in their best interest to see others succeed, people are broken and that's the problem with society. I see good things though, but when cops hassle people for having a BBQ for the homeless... There is a huge problem with empathy in the hearts of men who like to say they control. Fantastic talk.. Peace\ understanding.

Luis Riba I think a movement is coming . People are tired of it . You saw it when there was the march against wall street , the vote for trump ( whom people thought would remedy the situation ) , and people rallying against banks . Soon enough the bubble will burst .
@axelgear6666 жыл бұрын
@@olnbgy4444 the dollar is being propped up by phoney numbers on stock exchange. Just look at the tremendous federal debt and how the government continues to print out money outta thin air and expect to pay back all its international creditors knowing full well this will lead into inflation. Raising interests rates are on the horizon and that too will contribute to bursting the bubble. Be ready for a total dollar collapse. It's been on the back burner since 2008 and delayed but it is gonna come back in full force soon. It's not a matter of if it's gonna happen but when. And that when is coming soon

I would wish that employers would pay their workers what it cost them to deliver their work product instead of pocketing that difference and calling it profit.
@BRAVENEWORDERFILMS6 жыл бұрын
Larry Menasco That's such a stupid comment, no offense. Guess what? Without "profit", there are NO _wages_ . Without _profit_ , there is no growth, without growth, there is no CAPITOL to hire NEW EMPLOYEES... Not every business is a faceless Corporation. Small businesses are the backbone of many communities and they are absolutely entitled to pursue a dream of profitability. Communism and its cancerous offshoots, has always failed. Thank God history has shown that dumbass ideology such as yours, has _NEVER_ prevailed...
@xxxhoodooxxx6 жыл бұрын
Transition Point It's not communism to give a fair share of profit to those that make it. You can find a large neighborhood on Old Hickory Lake in Tennessee. It was built by DuPont To house their employees. You see in the fifty's you could be a factory worker and afford to have a wife and kids, a house and vehicle, with one paycheck. What we have today is debt slavery only good for corporations. The more everyone makes, the more money spent, the better the economy. That trickle down plan is bullshit. Just politicians paying off political funders.

Transition Point he's taken the bait of the class warfare lefties!
@jasongates-6 жыл бұрын
Transition Point, for bigger businesses, who the government keeps saying "trickle down system" for, the problem with them is, they have the "profit" and "capitol," but it does NOT trickle down, like the government says it would, because those businesses pocket the very money the government is talking about when the government gives tax breaks to those businesses. So, hurray for smaller businesses, that might very well give their employees bonuses. So, I agree with XXXHoodooXXX.

What a cute couple! Both have such good attitudes. I'm glad there is family involved, although it seems they want to do this on their own rather than pile in on family. Brave stuff in this weather. Both seem very desirable as workers, and should have no problems getting employment. But the economy (and NY is very expensive) is awful, and wages are not supporting being able to survive, unless you are a highly paid professional in technology, the medical field, legal field, or such. Everyday people struggle.
