Liz, your story turned my youngest daughter's life around. She was a problem from age 12. I insisted that she watch the Liz Murray story movie. Debra worked hard, graduated HS and then off to nursing school. She became an RN, then a master's degree in nursing. Then, she earned a doctorate degree in nursing. She now runs the nursing department at one of the largest hospitals in the USA.

She worked hard and she’s smart . She knew the streets was not going to take her anywhere . She probably saw Wall Street people on the trains in the mornings with nice coats and bags and lived in comfortable homes and said I’m going to be them one day . Her sister Lisa did well too . Congrats

Apart from the sheer willpower, what strikes me the most is that she doesn't harbour anger against people. She wasn't mad at her parents for not being parents or her situations. She was sad, no doubt but not playing the blame game. She accepted the situation and worked awfully hard to change it. Complete responsibility of her actions. No victimization of self.

Not everyone is built like her with such resiliency & maturity to face adversities. GOD was the one to carry her all the way through. How one can use their pain for purpose. How to face& deal with the trauma. This is tough on anyone who endures severe loss&trauma. No one wants to play victim under unfortunate circumstances. Things like this can make you or break you. Mental health can play on number on ones brain. This is a miraculous testimony which I believe "Nothing But God".

She is marvelous! But don't use her story to justify child abuse. There are many kids that just can't get out of that hellhole so telling them "you should've done what she did" would be unfair. Nonetheless, she's an inspiration to many.

Just like her friend cris chose the wrong side of the rd. Alot of success people out there their pain turn them ina better person whilst some turns worst. But for a better life we have to chose the best way mayb not exactly as her but successful

they don't get out sometimes, but the only reason people stay stuck is cause they don't believe nothing with change. she shared her story because she decided not to give up, you don't have to go to Harvard it's almost impossible to get in there even if your not homeless, but Liz was willing to get out of her situation no matter what it took.

Unless you live it it’s very hard to understand but her mother was ill and sexually abused as a child she couldn’t find or see a way out like Liz and that could have been Liz and Liz saw it. It’s all you know… I became homeless due to both of my parents being mentally ill gangbanging and drug addiction. We are not entitled to anything in this world. You’re lucky!

Life comes to you and you have to live it, with the tools you have, you must carve out a path that allows you to reach a destination, which may or may not be attainable, however, on that path you must be certain that your steps day by day they forge you and your desires, your desires, your most precious dreams illuminate that path you walk, beyond destiny.
